Refilled the gearbox, fitted the subframe, followed by the exhaust then the battery box and a bit of underbonnet tidying.

With the engine secured properly, all of the bolts securing the gearbox, the steering rack etc, were torqued up, and it was time to get it down from the axle stands.

So after dropping the front down, I took the opportunity to refit the battery, reset the clock and fire it up.

A quick check over, and tidy up the tools, and now for the moment of truth......








.........the reward for my trouble is the most compliant clutch of any rover 75 or MG ZT I've ever driven

I can finally see why people were so impressed by these when they were new, what a complete and utter transformation.

I'll give it a shakedown run of more than the 25 miles of mixed driving, and then the Duotone I've been using for the past few days will be up for sale, as I never want to drive an automatic again
