Hi Mike.
I note from above you say your tried unplugging the fuel senor connected to the fuel filter and ( klarzy )says Tap the fuel pump next to it with a screwdriver, you reply I did that so therefore does your car have an under bonnet pump/ if so remove the plug connector from the UBP spray with contact cleaner push on & off a few times, see if it works also remember if you do have the UBP how much diesel do you have in the car, disregard if you do not have UBP
