Andy, have you tried contacting BT to report a fault?

It may be due to dry joint or something. They will carry out an automatic test and can often detect such problems.

I assume your telephone delivery is on overhead lines. Mine is and I get 8Mbit/s on the copper line and 37 - 42 Mbit/s on infinity 2. Our overhead line is about 300m from the cabinet.

Try BT first to see if they can identify a fault.
