The aircon deodoriser foam should go up the condensate drains which are directly associated with the evaporator. There should be a long delivery pipe attached to the can. The evaporator is where the stinky stuff is, not the dash vents. The evaporator matrix gets coated with bacteria/slime. The foam is a bactericiadal detergent to loosen it from the matrix and let it gloop out of the drain tubes. The type for spraying into vents is more or less an air freshen treatment that lasts a short while but doesn't tackle the cause.
