I have also noticed after putting the VIN number in the MG Rover build details site, that this car was earmarked as export to Japan!
According to the NZ website I checked the cars rego on, it was registered as brand new in NZ.
Maybe it got diverted to NZ instead of Japan.
Intriguing it is.
