Before you incur any expense try this. Not sure if this just my car but if it works for you too then great.
Not long ago I had to visit a garage for clutch replacement. On collecting my 75 Tourer the garage proprietor apologised for not having the code for the radio. I didn't have the code either but thought this had happened when I replaced the batter, could I remember what happened?
Anyway off I went with a silent radio demanding a code. I pressed and held the button on the right hand side (opposite side to on/off switch) and hey presto radio came on ! !
Try it, you never know, it might work for you too!
