I did some Airport Runs for a friends firm last year - they paid for my PHL which I will not renew next month - and I drove a wide range of vehicles all with what I would consider "Starship" milage and yet they all drove really well.

Surprisingly well in fact.

The worst for me were the Mondeos - bad seats, dash bits falling off and rough engines.

Two of the best were Toyata Avensis estates with 487K and 500Kplus (the last one had had a new speedo so the actual milage was estimated but well over 500K) - seats were comfortable and supportive, engines smooth, quiet and powerful.

The Mercs were really good of course - super lux

The most fun? - the Seat Alhambra and the Ford Galaxy - surprisingly nimble and fun to drive and with a prodigious load lugging ability. - Both had over 350k miles but the Ford interior was wearing better than the Seat.

Hi milages on well maintained cars is not so much an issue these days.
