Maybe worth taking for a dyno run, where fuelling and other factors may be checked on run up and run down. If the engine is not in standard tune fuelling may be all wrong for town type of work, thus over doing fuel and cant run right.
I know this suggests spending more $, but this would provide some answers and possibly save this car from doom!
