Agreed but I think this sort of "engineering practice" should be outlawed in order to save vital world resources.

Probably 90% of printer owners can't be bothered and just go out and buy a new one.
The reason they are so cheap is because the makers subsidise the hardware price so they can rip you all off for the ink etc
