It will make for a quicker warm-up than if a fully operational heater matrix is in circuit. The matrix is effectively a second radiator that's permanently in use. So without this cooler, the engine will heat up faster. It should have negligible impact on the running temperature, because the thermostat and main radiator are then operating.
If your engine is the diesel (?) in standard form, it may not make that much difference.
