To dry the carpet out you are going to have to take it out of the car , the foam underlay acts like a sponge and absorbs a huge ammount of water which will never dry out in the car . I took the carpet out of mine and then hung it up in the garage and let the water drip out over time, it would dry out faster if you could hang it up outside in the garden and let the sun and wind work its magic on it , no reason why the car couldn't be used with the carpet removed, just put a temporary carpet in the footwells to protect the wiring to the seats etc .
