2 i-pods 1 computer.

Can anyone advise me? My Mrs has an i-pod touch and I have her old i-pod hand-me-down. If I try to swap and change some music in I-tunes which is set up to sync with her touch would my old i-pod affect her library?
Basically we have 2 i-pods and can i use them both on the same computer?
Regards
Mick.

There are I think 3 methods to do this, the simplest and therefore the one I use is to set up a playlist for each Ipod and only sych with that playlist, then all the music is on the PC and only the chosen music is on each ipod

I have an iPhone and iPod on my computer. iTunes recognized each one independently. You can then choose what you want to sync on each one.
On my ipod everything is synced but due to the smaller storage on the iphone I have only synced my playlists etc.
It was a while ago that I set it up, so cant remember exactly how, but I remember it being very quick........

As above really - you can sync as many devices with iTunes as you wish and each will be recognised as a different device - even if they are both iPod Nano's, for example.

The latest iTunes (version 9) allows you to select which items are synced with your device on a per-device basis. Meaning that when you plug a device into your computer it's individual settings will be remembered for the next time.

My PC has ipods on it, we just log in as different users on the PC

Couldn't see this mentioned above - there's a tick box on the info screen for any ipod plugged into the computer that says 'manually manage music and video', or words to that effect. If you tick that, you should be able to do what you like.

My pc has 3 ipod nanos and an iphone synced - I have 4 named folders and drag and drop stuff from the main library into each so everybody only gets what they want. Itunes recognises each individually and on the nanos even selects the correct colour

Agree with all of the above.

I would like to add there's another nice bit of software that I used a fair bit a while ago called sharepod. You can use it for moving music backwards and forwards with Itunes at all.
