Remote lazy locking / venting.

An idea occurred to me as a result of reading another thread and I'd like to ask the elctrickery gurus their opinion.

Lazy locking / venting is initiated by turning and holding the key in the driver's door lock until the windows are in the required position.

My idea is that one of those "key-fob" receivers, available on fleabay, could be wired in parallel to the door lock switch, thereby enabling the lazy locking / venting to be done remotely. (It's SO uncool to have to use the key ;) ).

The kits I've seen on fleabay can be setup to send either a latch, momentary or press and hold signal.

So, is it an option?...or a pipe-dream?

Comments please?

sounds fun..

reckon you/I/we , need to know a few sneaky details about things in this area work, it shouldn't be too advanced its only a car !!.

As you all ready have your key remote operating the locks, could this not action be used to trigger something, a relay, or timed relay or summit!!! to close the windows without an extra key fob.

Do the windows have anything monitoring the opening and closing , limits switches etc, or is that already too advanced ..?

we may only need to emulate the key switch for a finite time and its done ?

Well thats Plan A again.

Reckon you & I might have too much time on our hands :D,
my excuse is .......
I might build a Patio, but ..I just DON'T do gardening :D:D:D, .

thinking caps on ..

Chris

PS Just found this ?? an adjustable timer relay, only 7amp, ?.

I suspect if you isolated the wiring for the switch in the drivers door lock then there is no reason why not ... however read my safety caution in that other thread ...

Welcome back BTW, I was not aware you were in the clutches of the "pretend" doctors, but glad all is well now :)

Thank you :) "Pretend" ?

Well... I just cannot see a wiring diagram in RAVE for the driver's door lock barrel / central locking. Can anybody point me in the right direction please?

s'ok - just an insider joke between clinicians and real doctors! :)

re wiring: I suspect you will need to "break-open" the lock mechanism to get direct access to the switch you operate when using the key in the lock - you can than just shunt the relay terminals across that.

As lazy lock etc is a programmed function , the lock must talk to the System, to get the system to shut the windows, so some wire must carry the required
signal.. and it could be accessed by a wire break in ?
well thats my feeble logic ??? ;)

Oh that. My GP insists on going through the same old witticisms with me every time I consult him.

Anyway. On with the motley. THIS is what I just bought to play around with :)

I might not be able to drive VeeKay but that doesn't mean I can't experiment. One channel for the lazy lock / vent, one channel for the boot lid release. Now, what to do with the other two channels?

Agreed, for a "simpler" car - however as the 75 does almost everything through a bus of some sort it is unlikely to be a single wire for each function, but rather the lock processes the switch info and sends a "door lock" - "door unlock" message on the bus to the BCU ... so to "simulate" the key in the lock function you would need access to the switch directly ... see what I mean? (Otherwise you will need to send a "door locked/unlocked" message down the k-bus every time you press your remote button!! which is a bit of an overkill!)

One could always go straight to the window controls I suppose.

Nice! I want one even though I don't know what I would use it for right now!! :)
