"Different" Bolts - Any Reason?
I mentioned in a different thread that my EGR valve is held on with normal bolts, not the hex-heads mentioned in the manual. I figured that someone had changed them at some stage.
But now I'm trying to clean/change my PCV, the wiring loom bracket has different bolts to the "normal" too - they're just male torx with no 5mm bolt base (meaning I can't use a socket to get them off). Could there be a reason why mine is different to the norm? Kev. |
I've seen a couple of different bolts on both of these places on my past 75s - I assume people have replaced them due to damage or loss.
Or it could be different years had different bolts? :) |
same reason the MAF has security Torx screws, to stop people from tampering with them...

A 5mm small socket will remove the wiring loom arm bolts easy, click the link.

The torx head may have been rounded off a bit if so try a 4.5 mm socket if not small mole grips will get them out once out you can change them as they are only self tappers really into plastic ;) Arctic |
Cheers for the advice - they're weird as it looks like they never have had a socket base. Mole grips are the way forward, ta for that!
