Tyre Protectors ( Fitted ) 2015
This is how I/we fitted the tyre protectors (RSC000131) to our cars.
https://i.imgur.com/NcEmPXll.jpg1a To do this easy task of fitting the protectors you will need either a small screwdriver, or punch, sockets 8mm & 10mm & ratchet, trolley jack, or axle stand, damp cloth or wire brush, but I would imagine your normal jack would do the job, if you do use the normal jack for changing a wheel them put the wheel under the sill behind the jack. I must of had these tyre protectors for at least a year before fitting them, one of those jobs you seem to say to yourself I will do those this weekend but never get round to it. You should get two tyre protector plates with two bolts to each plate. Fig 1 https://i.imgur.com/bs0U0THl.jpg1 One of the bolts will have a domed surface so you can not go wrong which bolt fits where Fig 2 https://i.imgur.com/DPVGSKsl.jpg2 Ok now we know what we have and need lets get the wheel off, handbrake on rear wheels chocked, loosen the wheel studs 17mm then jack the car up. Fig 3/4 https://i.imgur.com/OVu3KPll.jpg3 https://i.imgur.com/rCvJfapl.jpg4 With all the wheel studs removed you can remove the wheel from the car safely. Fig 5/6 https://i.imgur.com/OvYUplOl.jpg5 https://i.imgur.com/ArhVfwBl.jpg6 Now the wheel is off and under the sill or put to one side or you may choose to sit on it why you do the fitting of the protectors, you will see the cup of the strut this maybe covered in dirt, if so wipe it clean with a rag or brush it clean with the brush which ever you have to hand. Once the cup as been cleaned you will notice the two holes in the cup that the protectors fit into, if not these may have dirt in them also, this is when you would use the small screwdriver or as we used a punch to clear the hole, Fig 7/8 https://i.imgur.com/q4KvWK5l.jpg7 https://i.imgur.com/IeWQq6Pl.jpg8 With the cup cleaned/clear offer the tyre protector up to the cup, fit the 10mm bolt Fig 9 https://i.imgur.com/1uYI0Pwl.jpg9 Only nip this up hand tight at the moment this will allow you to have movement so you can align the 8mm domed bolt Fig 10 https://i.imgur.com/H1OpD07l.jpg10 Align the domed 8mm bolt then nip this up to, go back to the 10mm and tighten with the socket Fig 11 https://i.imgur.com/RpaIxOll.jpg11 Now tighten the 8mm domed bolt Fig 12 https://i.imgur.com/TkVJZtRl.jpg12 The tyre protector should be fitted nice and tight Fig 13 https://i.imgur.com/DmqMNjal.jpg13 Refit the wheel bolts/studs again nipped up fig 14 https://i.imgur.com/RqwhoaFl.jpg14 Lower the jack and torque up the studs to 125Nm Fig 15 https://i.imgur.com/NSrJ5p6l.jpg15 Remove the jack and repeat on the other side job done Fig 16 https://i.imgur.com/3k5DuXFl.jpg16 Cheers Arctic Disclaimer: You are responsible for any work or modifications carried out on your car and you undertake any such work at your own risk. Got a set somewhere in the garage that I've been meaning to fit for months now. Next time the sun comes out I'll have a go.

As you can see not that hard of a job, I too kept mine in the shed for quite while before fitting,:} due to one day i will fit them and that day never comes, better on the car I think :D good luck |
The car is in for the ABS light today, so fingers crossed the sensor and bearing work, and I can get this done when it comes back. :) Thank you again.

I have two ready to fit - beautifully sprayed in Trophy Blue to match the car :shrug: (Please do not ask me why - I have no idea - it just seemed like a good idea at the time........)
But I was wondering what attaches to the extension bit via the hole? You can see it in the excellent pics from Arctic - Pic 13 just above the "18" of the date. I can visualise some sort of clip here with a cable attached - but what? Sorry wrong download file :duh::duh::duh: (Dragrad - Edit - now rectified) |

Yes I wondered what the first download was :D They look different hopefully they will withstand the elements, they should do as the black ones seem to fare well ;) |
Fitted a pair to mine a few weeks ago.........I'd also had them for months lying around in my shed :duh:
I painted mine with a couple of coats of black stone chip paint and then sprayed with black Waxoyl once fitted ;) |
Posts rectified where necessary ;):}
Steve, another great How to and now added to here..... :bowdown::D:D:D There are a some threads on these forms about these tyre protectors, where they have worked, and failed :shrug: I have has two broken front springs that never touched the tyres.. just luck I guess.... and on both occasions the car was stationary when the springs went....;) :shrug: :D |
