Front Drop Link

Hello chaps!
I'm looking for a pair of Front Drop Links (mine are completely worn) but I've found there are 2 close references:
RBM100240 and RBM100241.
Which might be the differences between them?
DMGRS gives both references for the same and Rimmers gives RBM100241P hence aftermarket. Easy to find them in France without heavy custom taxes.
Thanks for your answer.

Hi Arnaud,

RBM100240 is the original design, now sadly unobtainable.

RBM100241 is the inferior supersession with a spindle which is too long to fit under the spring on one side and also has ridiculously slim hexagon flats on the body. Everybody supplies this type now, even X-Part.

The way around the fitting difficulties has been well documented by Arctic. Good luck!

Thanks a lot Simon.
I can found at French suppliers the good RBM100240 reference: the best brands IMHO should be BILSTEIN, TRW or DELPHI. For example:

Any good advice on those?
Regarding the fitting I've recently got the official big ring binder which was commonly used at Rover dealer garages.
Anyway I'll have a close look upon Arctic's thread: thanks for the tip Simon!
But where I'd read it was a doddle?

take a look at these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161920119047
I don't recall these having a silly thin nut but it was a few years ago I fitted them. 10,000 miles and 4 mots and still ok.

Ask DMGRS about the thin nuts as they were going to speak to their supplier/manufacturer about the nuts.

Hi Arnaud.
Out of those above i would go with TRW, as Delph have had some bad press by members on here in recent yrs when fitting (Dave) i think did a post on them, never tried Febi did try some of there lower wish bone mounts once were ok but not a near as good as Unipart ones.

Which ever you go with add some extra grease to the joints with a syringe ;)

Just for info about FEBI BILSTEIN which is a very well famed brand here:

https://www.bilsteingroup.com/en/brands/febi/

BTW MEYLE is rather expensive here directly from Germany and I cannot understand how the British seller is so cheap for the same...
Would I order from the latter at Ebay.co.uk, shipping & custom charges would ruin the difference! :duh:

I've recently (had) fitted Meyle HD. Definitely not the cheapest but they were recommended on here and appeared to be very good quality. Time will tell and I've got a pair off DMGRS on 'standby'
