Most Important Vote of Your Life - Have Your Say!
A purely hypothetical question - which way would you go?
This https://www.dtperformancecars.co.uk/...kshire-1918455 or this https://www.georgekingsley.co.uk/use...ne-assist-2565 I believe there may have been other votes taking place today, but this is the ONE! |
Jag, I don't like modern Mercs
|
Neither...... not enough space for the dogs :D
|
And there I was hoping it was a vote on Brexit.
The Jaguar but only if I had the money to waste. |
A hard decision. If I had that kind of cash, I'd probably trust the Merc more, although I am cynical about both manufacturer's commitment to genuine reliability and customer service. That kind of money would buy me 10 - 15 cars at the sort of price I normally pay!
|
Merc, all day long........ and then another day.......... and one after that.......
|
Mercedes for me ..
The Jaguar dressed like that would look better with the McDonalds drive through gang. Cheers Ian |
Jag for me anyday.
|
Neither. I could get a running project Aston Martin for that.
|
The Mercedes all day every day, nicer colour and nicer interior, not to mention nicer to drive, and unlikely to fall to bits like the Jag.
Brian :D |
Merc :drool4: - the Jag is a wee bit too :getmecoat: toned down tho.....hmmm still the Merc :D
If Voting Changed Anything, They Would Make It Illegal. Paul. |
Jag for me I'm afraid. The back of the Merc looks like somebody sat on it.
|
After working with aa Jaguar Main Dealer I always yearned for one some day.
That “dream” was realised four years ago when we purchased a lovely 3.0 XF Yes it was lovely to look at, great to drive but reliability issues were a problem and my local main dealer simply ripped me off. On top of that I had to fight Jaguar Cars tooth and nail to get badly corroded doors replaced. Just one month after getting four new doors the car was written off in a non fault accident. I’ve owned a Rover consistently since 1986, I currently have three plus two other British cars, a Mini and a Vanden Plas Princess 1300 but I needed a change so purchased a CLS Shooting Brake and have never regretted it for a moment. |
Merc, by a country mile.
|
The red one looks nice:getmecoat:
|
I'd go for the Merc as there are a couple of issues with the Jag - the exterior colour and the interior colour. :D
|
I fancy something a tad smaller!:}

Jag for me, no question about it.

They are both lovely cars I love the Jag but the build quality is no match for the Merc but I've never been a Merc man. I've sold a few over the years and they just didn't do it for me. |

That is very nice, but perhaps a "youngster's car" rather than the forum membership? :} |

That was a quick response. I deleted the first reponse thinking it may cause targeted offense as opposed to offending the majority. :D |
Voting
Definitely the Jag for me, but I would say that, as I own two of them, and never liked German Cars
Stu |
Merc
Having looked at both ....
Merc. The interior colour and space and I have always fancied a big Merc. Having said that I wouldn't refuse the Jaguar if I was getting it free of charge but paying the money ...( after Lotto win) I would spend it on the Merc. :drool4: Chris |
Neither!
Far too pricey, system too tricky & design too modern and impersonal. The first is an actual Tata, the second a cocky German. Neither is genuinely British nor has British class. I stick to my Rovers... |
Neither, they are both horrid.
|
I did originally say the Jag, however after having another look I wouldn't want to own either. Nothing looks worse than an old man driving round in something that looks like that. Willy extensions comes to mind.
There comes a time when you need something of quality but understated. |
Cannot make my mind up.
Cannot make my mind up. Just buy both.....
|
Alternatively, you could get a nice MG-ZT for everyday use, and with the change get yourself a nice play thing.

As for the above, nothing wrong with that if needs must.:D |
It's the Merc for me all day long :D
|
I wouldn't have a Mercedes with a "V" type engine with cylinder de-activation. Now, I don't know if they all have that "feature" or not, but certainly the V12s do. V8s, not sure? I have 2 friends with S600s. Both have had the cylinder de-activation parts fail. One repair required the removal of the intake and both cylinder heads, the other required a replacement engine (more economical than repairing).
What countries make that class of car? I think Germany and Japan - and I'm not sure if Japan really does (Lexus?). I don't think the Americans have anything to compare. |
I know it's supposed to be a choice between the two but ... neither tbh.
They are both lovely cars bristling with technology and design but neither float my boat, perhaps if the Mercedes choice was a 1969 280 SL and the jaguar choice was a 1961 FHC E type, I would be torn between the two. For me ... Jaguar saloons stopped being just that with the demise of the XJR 4.2 supercharged. I'm just a bit set in my ways, the new jags just don't look like a Jag is supposed to look. IMO. So ... i'll pick the Merc ... sell it immediately and by a classic Jaguar. |
If I had to choose one, it'd definitely be the Jag. Also, 542 BHP, wow. But look at that tax and insurance category...
|
Probably the Mercedes.
|
Ok, here's my order of preference for V8 cars that I regularly drool over.
1. Jaguar Sportbrake XFR-S (There is something about a large, powerful estate that saloons just cannot match in my view. Also, in my view all V8 engines should have a supercharger as opposed to turbocharger(s) or be naturally aspirated.) 1. Equal - XKR soft top. 2. Mercedes CLS 63 (I also love coupes body types and the CLS design/interior is as close to a "British Classic" as a German car gets). 3. BMW 650i in coupe format. 4. S type R (Supercharged) 5. Jaguar XFRS and E63 in the 6.3 litre naturally aspirated format. I could live with a Mustang purely for the sound. :} |
Definitely the Mercedes for me, love the colour.:}
|
And there's more to drool over
I saw an XJ 575 on the M25 recently and fell in live.
Here are a couple I would not mind having on the drive. https://www.sytner.co.uk/jaguar/car-...-xjr-4dr-auto/ https://www.arnoldclark.com/used-car...ign=autotrader Lottery ticket purchased for Friday. :} |
