i was thinking to "cut out" the light area from my old bumper and to "connect it" to the new one, then filling up any gaps.
not sure yet but this is my idea. Until i get the bumper i wont be able to get the measurements. hence got to wait and see. I saw this photo on google and i liked it. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...k1premium.jpg/ But i think i can do better :) |
I'm sure a similar mod was carried out by a member in Central Europe i think. There's a whole thread complete with pictures at various stages of conversion... :)

do you know the link by any chance?

Took me 2 days to clean it!
Back from Lake district my tourer was in such a state that i felt so sorry for it!
Boot full of dog fur, mud... floor on the rear seats full of sand and mud (courtesy of the kids + wife) and idem on the front.... various tissues and chocolate warping around the whole car... door cards with mud marks from shoes and the body full of dust and mud... Alloys dirty as well.... I started off from the back working my way forward. took me 1 day to hoover and clean the interiors... Took the opportunity to put the additional 12V socket in the under arm component, did the wiring and works all well. Day 2 was spent on washing the car. It was full of so much **** that i had to make the compressor work hard. then after drying came the polishing... sooo time consuming... but what a result! Took the opportunity to install the door finishers too. But after 2 days im happy that the car looks like it just came out of the factory! |
This message is useless without pics :D
Well done, mate. Care is what a 75 needs. |

Door Repair
Managed to get a good use of the 1st warm sunday of the year.
Some idiot tried to brake in to the car when I was in poland and literaly smashed my door lock, door was well damaged with deformed pannel.... today I managed to swap door. what a job that it was... took all panels out, glass out (The door i got had the registration number of that car itched on it), and the lock drum.... managed to put every thing together. good as new. will post some pics soon. |
Some people don't have any respect for another man's stuff..... Unbelieveable...
Changing a 75's door is quite a challenge indeed, not only for the door panel. Also the lock can be quite annoying... Good that you've repaired it! :D |
Done it in 4 Hrs
|
Xenons now fitted.
2 Attachment(s)
After a long time in saving money I finally managed to further Upgrade my 75.
Got the xenons fitted. At the moment they work with the manual leveling from the switch pack. Will be working on the auto leveling sensors soon. still not decided on the washers though.... Must admit they look great. I actually got a MG ZT xenons, (black surrounding). It does look good with the Royal blue bumpers. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...2&d=1368371485 http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...3&d=1368371496 |
Nice upgrade! Does update the car!
That's something which is on my list too, but LHD Xenon's are hard to find... |
The car looks great.
Its a real pleasure to drive it too!!! |
Hole in the Rocker Cover Fixed
Was on the school run and felt a smell of burning engine oil...
took off the engine cover to find out that the nut on the rocker cover near oil filler cap is came off with the nut of the engine cover.... was loaded of oil.... It was a mission to clean everything out... Custom made a nut and a covering for the hole it created on the rocker cover. Cleaned and degrees the hole, put some gasket sealant and fit in the nut. Waited to dry and took it for a test drive. No More Leaks!!! PS. took the opportunity to change the breather filters too, they were soo filthy and oily that i think it was never changed!! Engine feels smooth and prompt for power when required. Very silent even at 100 MPh :D Love driving my Tourer. |
Power Fold Mirrors
Thanks to Chris a member here I bought the power fold mirrors.
will be installing them as soon as i get some time :D |

Hi Leopard.
Im good. Yea the Xenons are great. Need to put the power fold mirrors on, still didnt get time to get round to it.... I just got to put the 2din player with center console, the tracker and the walnut interior kit to declare the upgrades done. Im also working on a rear spoiler. The design is a bit complicated but should look good at the end. Will keep posted. |
Have done that earlier... I had bought an Audi A6 rear spoiler lip, and fitted that on the rear window:
http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/701/spoiler2s.jpg But at the end I didn't want a 4-ringed brand on my English ride, it's off now... I'm curious at your solution. :D |
Cool but im working on the a original type one.
But with a slight modification so that you can open the boot window |
Power Fold Mirrors
after a break from the rain during the bank holiday weekend I managed to fit my Power fold mirrors.
It was until the job was completed I noticed the "new" mirrors were the bullet ones!! They look great! |
Clutch Pedal got suck at the bottom.
Last night I was enjoying the drive when returning from London till suddenly my clutch pedal go stuck all the way down in 2nd gear with out warning...
I mean I knew there was a leak in the system because I had to top up some fluid in the master cylinder a couple of times before. Hence i had the fluid. the syringe and the tubing at the bottom ob the boot. Im not sure what exactly broke... when i put fluid to the master cylinder i saw it over flowing... when i try bleeding the system it bleed fine but could not get any pressure to make the pedal go up... Managed to drive home by shifting gears at the right RPM while the pedal was stuck at the bottom the whole time... Just got a quote for the potential parts I might have to change. £110 + Vat Master Cylinder £200 + Vat Clutch Kit (Disks, Bushes, Plates and Slave Cylinder) £287 + Vat Duel Mass Fly Wheel So worst case scenario im looking a parts bill off £716 :( The car has 132.000 on the clock.... so its kind of ok.... |
That's a typical 75 problem indeed...
All 75's, and especially the diesels, will need a new clutch. Around the 130.000 miles is the "normal" mileage. |
Thats It!!
Thats It!
Changed the Master cylinder, pumped the pedal and clutch fluid peed down from the clutch.... thats a £700 Bill in components only!!! |
Ik know it hurts....
But the pain is forgotten after the second mile you'll drive the 75....:D Smooth, with class, and not a 13-in-a-dozen-car...:drool4: |
True True.
I felt soo bad after towing the car to the mechanic and leaving it there.... I will do my best to get fixed today. Should start work at 17:00. Planning to finish by 22:00 or 23:00 :D |
Once its done you will know that job will not need done again. The cars are well worth it. Good luck with yours.
|
Urgent Need gearbox input shaft oil seal
Need both seals by 17:00.
willing to drive to pick them up. Any one knows where to buy them or has a spare one please let me know. Im based in Hatfield Hertfordshire. any place around here? cambridge beds bucks London all fine. |
|
thaks but tried them already :(

Car Repaired!!
After 12hrs of non stop work we managed to get my car fixed!
On top of that I did the MOT on wife's car. Not bad at all. All the parts costed me £780 (From Bennets) + £100 Labor. (in Hitching) On Wife's Swift had to put 4 new tires and front disks + Pads. End of the day bill on every thing?? £1177. Not bad! The cars feels reborn, even though I still need to get used to the very light clutch pedal compared to how it was before. After all those hrs of work I must say its quite satisfying to drive my tourer in top condition!! |
Nice one Rashi!

Ohh yea. just back from a "Sunday Drive".
It was great. Engine is smooth and silent, clutch is great. Need to was it again... All full of oil marks from the garage :( Job for tomorrow :D |

Premium Bumper Project
4 Attachment(s)
First of all thanks to every one who helped me out with the parts and information on "swapping" the bumpers.
Today I drove round half the country (10hrs drive) to pic all the parts i will require. This project is slightly different from the standard one because i will be putting a Roewe grill to the Original MG Rover Premium bumper & keeping my MK1 lights. So I have abit of a job ahead. I will post pictures on here as i progress so it might be helpful to other members. Please comment on the pics, and solutions as I want a 360 degree opinion on this project as well as getting some ideas from you guys. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...2&d=1377458801 http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...3&d=1377458866 http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...4&d=1377458907 http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...5&d=1377458937 |

1st afternoon work on the premium bumper
5 Attachment(s)
Ok.
Its been a bit more complicated as i thought, but its all coming round now. the Roewe grill is a bit different from the original premium bumper... hence i had to chop off all the middle section.... bolting the Roewe grill to the bumper wont be too much of a hassle because the pumper trim can be inserted in between the grill and the chrome surrounding when bolting all together. The challenging part was the job done today on how to aline the Roewe grill and chrome surrounding to the center at the right angle, height and dept. Luckily the Rover engineers had partly done the job for me. by grinding parts of from the top bracket it enables to slide in the grille section into position, and this is the right, height, angle and depth for the car. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...6&d=1377718784 http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...7&d=1377718819 http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...8&d=1377718887 http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...9&d=1377718964 http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...0&d=1377719008 |

|
No yet.
Need to fiberglass around the grill area. I am merging two things into my premium bumper. Mg Rover Premium bumper + Roewe Grille + Mk1 light sorrounds. the main fiber glass has been put on the light surrounds, next is the Grille area, then I need to add poly filler and sand it down before painting.... Still long way to go.... But i will get there soon! |

Looking very good that is... Would love to do this to my facelift zt so in the new year i will hopefully have some pennies leftover from xmas prezzie shopping to get the parts and do iti its just a little daunting but spose once i start theres no turning back ...
|
Sean sold the last Roewe bumper recently........ (in BRG....) On his site it isn't possible anymore to order them.
You already have MK2 lights, so than it's not that difficult job... Only the fog lights and blinking lights needs to be modified as the connectors are completely different. |
Brett. Dont worry too muck.
premium bumpers jump out on ebay every now and then, so does the Roewe grilles. its only a metter of some one selling it on as an "unfinished project". It is still possible but it will take longer. so you need to have patients. :xmas-smiley-003: |
I don't mean the Roewe bumper what i 'm thinking of doing is transplanting the headlights and surround from a prefacelift onto mine.
|
thats a nice idea too.
maybe with a mk1 xenons :D |
Just need to find a bumper damaged or not as long as light surrounds are intact. Then look dor some lights.

will be going to do more work on the bumper.
will post some pics in the evening. |
