misfire and a gas leak

hi everyone

I have a 2005 1.8T Estate. it runs fine most of the time but if the engine is under heavy load it misfires. It's as if the engine completely shuts down for a second. what should I be checking? it has just received a full service so all plugs, leads, etc are good.

I don't know if it is related, but I also have petrol leak from the tank if it is topped up. does anyone know if there is a "typical" failure point in the tank/pipes?

Regards Richard

This is typically the result of someone working in the tank (to replace the pump, fit the orange clip, etc) and not refitting the tank seal correctly.

There's only one way it will seal as described here: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ead.php?t=9108

You may well have to remove the offending seal to fix it. If it's on the nearside, check the fuel filter for the Orange Clip. It's just possible your engine problem might be related to FFS. Even if not, you should fit the clip anyway.

Boost valve is a common fault when putting the power on.
