Low line sat nav

I have just bought a new disc for the low line Sat Nav in my car. Put it in and although the light on the unit is on, when i try to programme it by the dash control, it comes up as “no disc”. I have tried the disc in both sides up, and it still says the same. I have read that you need to leave the satnav on for around 15 minutes so that it can find out where it is? Anyone know anything about this please? The disc is a Navteq 2014/15. Recommendation from on here that it is the right one.

What happens if you put the earlier disc in?

As I said in my other post , I put the disc in with the label down, it read, no disc. I put it in with label uppermost, and it said the same. No disc. I have not got the earlier disc because my son said he took it out, don’t know why, but dropped it on the floor and then put his big 12 size shoe on it. It was marked so would not try it in again. He assures me that the last time he used it it worked ok.Think I might get it out for a look see.

I've never heard anyone mention a difference. This is the file list for the 2014-15 disc I've got (works with Low Line).

I'd try a proper shutdown (as in post 16 here) to see if it solves the problem with the 2014-15 disc you've just bought.

If that doesn't work I'd try the same again but this time with the earlier (damaged) disc. You could stick it in your PC first just to see if Windows Explorer can see the files above.

Just been out and opened boot lid, red light came on and went off on the satnav. Is that ok?

I don't understand the question. Are you trying to perform a shutdown and resart?

If you are,

1. Leave disc in satnav
2. Turn off lights, radio and anything else that might be on (except navigation computer)
3. Open boot - leave it open
4. Wait, don't touch anything at all (especially boot lid, doors, keys)
5. When red light goes out on navigation computer (and stays out) the system has shut down
6. Open driver's door or anything that makes the interior lights come on
7. Satnav should wake up (red light comes on)

If the display still says "No Disc" there's a fault somewhere - probably either the disc itself or the nav computer (assuming all wiring is ok).

Repeat 1-7 with the other disc you've got. If it still says "No disc" my money's on the nav computer.

PS. Red light on navigation computer might go out after a period of nothing happening - the nav comp has a nap if it thinks you're not doing anything. As soon as you do something again (e.g. open a door or boot) it should wake up and the red light turns back on.

I bought one for my Hi line and had exactly the same problem.

I'm struggling to remember now but There were two versions of the navtec discsomething like CD or DVD as I recall I contacted them and they sent out the other version and it worked perfectly straight away.
