BMW Widescreen

Anyone got any pics of how to shave off the metal ears to fit nicely in the Zt's/75?

:)

I just wanted something for reference/guide as to how to shape them.

Thanks!

If you've not already done so you'll have to cut the small pieces of plastic off from each side:-

Then shape the ears to something like this:-

I never said thanks for this!

Im about to do the job finally after all this time.

May I ask if you found it necessary to round off the vertical outer sides as in your pics?

Also, did you use a file by hand?!!

Many many thanks!

No worries Ross glad to be of help.

I found the BMW widescreen rather a tight fit at the top edges of the console so to make it easier to install and remove thought it worth doing and yes I used a hand file after cutting an angle with a hacksaw - didn't trust myself with a Dremel!

It won't let me scroll through to set the stations, how do I cancel the
TP which cuts in even if the CD player is working, it has the option of a hands free, so how do
I get access to that, still waiting for a Second hand Nav 2 from Radioguy, so I can get rid of this pile offfff.

Sorry Julien no, it's over four years since I had a Rover with a BMW upgrade and the memory is not what it once was :o.

It's all rather dependent on the radio module fitted, whether it still has the original MGR one or has been upgraded to a BMW BM24 or BM54.

As Phil says you will not be able to set the time/date unless an extra module (the name escapes me :o) has been fitted and to use the hands free, though for phone only not for streaming, a BMW ULF bluetooth unit is required.

This may not work but from memory; to set the station buttons, tune to the station required then hold the respective button down until the unit bleeps. To cancel the TP; press INFO, select Traffic Information, select No traffic info.

Though I may well be forgetting something, it's rather awkward trying to give advice without a similar unit in front of me.

Best regards
Jim

Thanks Jimbo...

In the end I did a really neat looking job with a variable speed dremel, taking a bit at a time. Looked great.

When fitting to the car, I still needed to ease the dash away a bit, but only a small amount and she popped right in.

TIP for people.....:-

IF you ever need to remove a screen, dont bother with a tool and faffing and messing up the spring clips, just unscrew the ATC unit, and use your fingers to push the metal springs in, 99.9% of Alpine monitors Ive seen for sale have totally knackered spring clips.

:)

Cheers Ross appreciated, glad to hear all went well.
