Headlining removal (75 saloon) - help please

Saloon

I'm attempting to get the headlining out in order to find a water leak.

I've got it free of the roof and it's now resting on the seats (front seats in full recline position).

Does anyone know which door is the best one to try and get it out through. It doesn't look like it'll go though any of them without folding it in half!

Someone once told me that the rear screen has to come out.

That's what I thought at first but I found a thread/post written by an Australian owner and he said it'll come out through the front door. I can't see how.

You can twist it round and out of one of the back doors if you're careful. Had to do it once, never again! It's easy to swap one in a tourer though :getmecoat:

So the narrow end comes out first?

It comes out of the passenger front door easiest, I’ve done this a couple of times it’s a bit fiddly but not terrible.

I re trimmed mine last year and removed it with ease through the drivers door with the seats folded right back and head rests removed.

Trikey & Jim

I've got the front seats lying as flat as they'll go (full recline) and all five headrests are out. The rear seat cushion is still in but both side bolsters are out.

I've tried exiting the liner through the front passenger door and the rear offside door - and either way I can't get it to turn the corner without bending it beyond the point of recovery.

Jim

How did you get it past the steering wheel?

What position was the wheel on the column adjustment - fully down and fully forward?

Jim Jamieson 16th February 2019 17:45

If I recall the steering wheel was pushed fully in towards the dash and lowered.

Point to note. I have a sunroof so the headliner can flex more easily when manoeuvring.
