Hazy real wood dash...
 

Hi all!

I was just wondering if anyone has solved a hazy real wood dash with polish? It looks like it has a layer of cleaning product on it and I was wondering what you would advise to remove it and restore the shine?

I would approach it as follows;
attempt 1: warm water with washing-up liquid. If this has no result, move on to attempt 2 etc.
Attempt 2: warm water with 100% cleaning alcohol, ratio 3:1 descending to 2:1, 1:1 or pure cleaning alcohol. Always try on the least visible piece of material to see what the effect is.
Attempt 3 for scratches: the veneer is lacquered, if you wet the scratch and then the scratch disappears, it can be restored using fine polish and manual polishing (cotton wool, fine polishing pad). Don't go hard sanding because you will go through the varnish down to the wood, you shouldn't. If the scratch remains while wetting, then it is through and through and the scratch should be filled with clear lacquer. That is another process.



Polishing back to the shine should be possible, (gently with fine polishing liquid and soft tools) but do try this first on a least visible piece of material to see if it gives the effect you want and wait some time to see the effect on longer term.
