Screenwasher fluid leak

Hi guys,

So recently i have filled up my screenwasher fluid to the max and ever since then i noticed a small spot under the car on the right side when standing in front of the car.

I smelled the fluid and it smells just like the washer fluid so it must be that.

My guess is that a hose is broken somewhere maybe in the main unit or below it or maybe in a line that goes to one of the light washers on the right.

Has someone had that problem before and has any tips if there is an easy fix or similar?

Thanks.

Take off the wheel & peel back the inner liner, this'll give you access to the bottle bottom and pump etc. You might find the cause there.:}

They can leak where the washer pump fits into the washer bottle. Not filling the washer bottle so much means less weight/pressure at this point and it may not leak

the washer bottle and motor are on the drivers side of the car as suzublun says take off the wheel or move the steering to the left and peel back the drivers side inner wheel arch the pump can be prized out gently with a long flat bladed screwdriver ,taking care not to damage the seal the punp motor has a small mesh cover over it that usually gets bunged up see if any of the pipes are split by peeling off the bonnet liner rgds mark

Not sure about the washer bottles on other variants, but on the 1.8T auto, the bolts holding the washer bottle in place can crack the bottle itself at the fixing point, causing leakage, but it would have to have been removed and improperly refitted for this to be the cause (bumper off job to refit/replace on the 1.8T auto).

Cheers,
Karl.
