Launch Car ABS Modulator issue

Hi wondering if anyone has come across this issue before.

I have a launch car built on 6th May 1999 so it’s quite early. It’s a 2.5.

The speedo stopped working so did the usual of replacing the sensors, wheel bearings etc. Speedo would work fine for about 20 miles then stop again. The traction control warning light stays on as well.

I believe we have traced the fault to the ABS modulator. This has been removed and was sent for refurbishment but we were then told it was beyond repair due to internal corrosion.

It’s a Bosch part which was also fitted to contemporary Saab’s however Bosch no longer make it. Rather than risk one from a scrappy for which silly money is being asked we’ve found a new one but it’s in Spain!

Just wondering if anyone has come across a similar issue and how they sorted it.

I haven't heard of this issue, but dave lincs has a modulator from a launch car he is breaking if you need one.

It might be worth contacting Rimmer Bros and asking if they can do anything with regards to their close call scheme.I know it's not marked on their website but worth a try as it's quite a price otherwise.

I had an ABS fault I was not clever enough to trace and had to take it to a garage which had a T4.

After 7 hours of checking and changing parts, the fault was finally traced to an earth, which only failed when the car moved. I hope you get it sorted.

I would fit a standard modulator for what it's worth, and remove TC from the coding, if the choice is between scrapping the car or being unable to source a replacement modulator.

I'm still at a loss as to why anyone would willingly want traction control on their car in any case, I have a right foot and a brain capable of receiving the necessary input from the car to control it :getmecoat:

Oh yes I've had this before about 10 years ago on a launch car.

As Trikey said get in touch with Davelincs and see if he's still got it, note that you might also need a section on loom with the ABS/Traction plug on it to splice in if there's severe corrosion in the existing one.

Bit of a pig splicing in the new section of loom but if done correctly, it will look totally original.
