Just a thought?

Does any one on here use rainwater to wash their car with.

Not me. Only use rainwater for the garden. There is a huge water butt in the back garden.

Only when it rains:}

Don't use any water. Waterless is the way to go.

So what do you use, tap water I presume, which must leave water stains, just thinking rain water out of the butt it is soft and does not contain nasties.

That must do a lot of good to your paint work, me thinks scratches come too mind?

A lot of detailers recommend using a "Di vessel" to de-ionise your tap water ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pressure-Re...NsaWNrPXRydWU= )

They connect to your hose or pressure washer and supposedly eliminate water spots entirely, meaning the car can be left to dry on its own if necessary. Never tried one myself, but I've often thought about it

Just tap water and a decent shampoo, I’m using Meguiars soft wash. A decent washing mitt, don’t use a sponge. I have the Meguiars bucket which has a raised grill so the dirt falls to the bottom when you squeeze out the mitt. Rinse of with the hose in spray pattern. Towel dry.

Banana has ceramic coating so I don’t have to shampoo every time, just plain water and a decent mitt, then just rinse then towel dry. Never get any water stains.

I would have thought if you use rain water from a water butt you have to make sure that there was no unwanted debris in the water.

Only ever use rain water, our tap water is really hard and leaves lots of marks unless you dry it immediately 😎

Definitely not, if you obey the instructions. Even swirls disappear. Used nothing else for over five years.
