Looks like the airport has been closed for the whole day and no end in sight. Must be awful to be stuck there today. :icon_confused:

All because of an idiot.

There must be some way they can put a registration mark on these,so, when they are shot down owners can be located.

The British Army bought this anti-drone system to shoot them down with 5KW Lasers https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.n...-away.html/amp. I believe the system costs £30million.

Some awful stories coming on the scrolling news. Families having to cancel Christmas holidays because of this and some can't claim for the cancellation on their holiday insurance.

Coups 20th December 2018 17:18

It’s rather embarrassing that an idiot or two (protesters or even terrorists?-it’s a stretch I know but it’s causing massive infrastructure disruption which is an aim of these groups) with a few possibly cheap drones can stop a major airport functioning.

Anyone else expecting a bunch of copycat incidents coming along shortly?

I can see a major shake up with the legislation with regards to people operating these drones.
Unfortunately affecting the good guys, that play the rules as per the book.

planenut 20th December 2018 17:37

Sadly, this was only to be expected with the easy availability of drones, whoopee Christmas, but the lack of "technology" to deal with it quickly is an embarrassment.

Should use it on the idiots flying the drones near to an airport.

For sure, but drag the idiot by the balls along the runway, then drop him on his head. Sky news said the drones were industrial grade. Who has that? The Russians, the Chinese? Not the usual Joe Public, I could be wrong.

If or when they catch him, take him to the departure lounge.:twonk:
