A good review for a new car. At the price it’s going to upset a lot of manufacturers. Like the ZS it’s down to a budget but even the ZS is a good car. Brother in Law is delighted with his.

By all accounts the GS was a bit of a dog. The MG6 was ok too but the market for such a car is disappearing fast. Even BMW is slowly moving to SUV and reducing saloon car sales. X1 will be their big seller one day.
I don’t see an MG when I drive these cars. Just a decent practical motor from a Chinese maker. They could badge it with anything.
If I want MG motoring I jump into the TF. No longer made anymore.

I brought my wife a 2017 mg3 top of the old range ,it has been utterly reliable well built and so far faultless my wife and I must say I think the looks are terrific perhaps in a few years she might be persuaded about the new zs it does look very good

My cars are usually 10 years old when I buy them so I'll have to wait a while. Time will tell!

Had a seat in the new MG HS on Wednesday when picking up my 3. Very impressive. The finish is more akin the likes of the Honda CRV. Looks very well put together and full of safety and driver assistance features. The new Hybrid version when it comes will surely sell well.

Just an update on the ZS.
Brother in Law continues to enjoy trouble free motoring in a very nice car.
Anyone else have any feedback on their MG?

Mrs Simondi has a ZSEV, very impressed.
An excellent driving position, very comfortable, simple and easy to use controls and above all it drives beautifully.

We spend around £6 a week on electricity to charge it compared to around £35-40 a week in petrol. This is saving her a fortune on her trips to work.

We have got a MG HS PHEV with all the options and I must say how pleased we are with it in the past we had a lexus ls430 then a lexus GS450H then a jaguar xf then a Mercedes c200d now the mg and must say the build quality is superb as is the paint quality

It’s only a snapshot but reviews are very positive.
Whether I go for a petrol or EV is my dilemma. My weekly commute is now only 100 miles as opposed to 350 miles.
Running a diesel is still cheap and I’ve no HP repayments.
I’m still struggling to understand how the infrastructure will be ready for the boom in EV sales around 2030.
Keep your diesel cars, they’ll be worth a fortune!

:} After 15 wonderful years of ownership, I am just trading in one of my two Rover 75 CDTi Connie SE's for a brand new top of the range MG HS Exclusive 7 speed auto :drool4:

After a year of big bills on my two 75's, the lovely Mayor of London rolled out the new ULEX charge zone in which my 82 year old mum lives which means the arrival of letters telling me my two girls fall foul of the emissions laws and I will have to pay over 200 quid per month to visit her! :duh:

I'd been looking at the HS ever since it was launched, and absolutely fell in love with it, so I was already thinking of making the switch and just needed that final nudge. I took my wife over to the MG crew who have serviced my two 75's for the passed 15 years, APPLEMG in Meopham, and she too fell in love with the HS. Took one out on a demo ride and it blew me away. The list of features is incredible, the little 1.5 engine is perfect for my needs, and the 7 speed auto is very impressive. Back to the showroom and I put a 250.00 deposit down immediately and ordered a new one in Farringdon red tri-colour.

For our old bones, getting in and out is a doddle compared to the 75's and the high up driving position, the headroom, legroom and comfort levels of seats are very much to my liking. I added red leather and a few goodies but sadly thanks to the global shortages of capacitors and other bits from China, I now have to wait 12 to 16 weeks for my new baby to arrive :eek:

I can't believe the features which include adaptive cruise control, traction control, stability control, anti roll over control, paddle shifts and turbo nutter bast.rd mode switch for overtaking or manual with no clutch, electric heated seats and mirrors, folding mirrors, abs, 18 inch alloys, reversing camera and beepers, power tailgate, full panoramic sunroof, 6 speaker stereo and connectivity with modern stuff I don't even understand....7 year warranty, free top spec AA membership each of those 7 years, SOS emergency call, not to mention lane assist, and blind spot assist, and the car will brake if it detects a collision and all sorts of other goodies.

Will be a sad day when I park Bluebelle up and drive away, but the MG HS is an amazing car that suits my needs now and my lovely 75 owes me nothing. It's apt also as I began my driving days 40 years ago with MGB's and MG midgets and a host of Rovers from the P6 to the mighty 75, and now I will be an MG owner again and keep my existing MG/Rover garage for parts and service. Win win! I also got a trade in value more than I could have hoped, a great deal and now I'm counting the days until the MG arrives :D

I'm the same as you let my white gold 75 tourer go for the HS PHEV Exclusive. Slightly disappointed with the amount of boot space, but that's all. Everything else is superb!

Yes, after scouring every review and owners view on the net from here to Asia, there seemed to be so few downsides or negative comments, aside from the possibly poorly thought out boot space. Luckily only two of us and it's plenty big enough for our needs. Even with the 75's I found the boot to be a pain when it came to loading two large holiday cases, one of the few things I didn't like about them.

I think the MG HS is simply a damn good looking car with chrome trim and shiny silver wheels, something that's so lacking in modern cars. And the specifications are just amazing. The fit and finish and quality of the soft feel fittings and that peppy little engine tick all of the boxes for me and my driving requirements these days. And then there's the driving position high up... :D

Having a 1.8, l get a stay of ULEZ execution but sooner or later when the emission parameters are inevitably tightened up, all the later Rovers will be in the net. I'll return to my classic fleet (currently exempt) for daily transport & more than likely sell on my beloved 75.

We have had our HS PHEV for 6 months now and it has been superb and very cheap to run

The new ZS EV will be out soon with a 275 mile range think that will sell well
