What is this & cruise problem
 

Hi All,


Having issues with the clutch switch on my Cruise Control, Jamiewelch had confirmed my Cruise problems were all down to the Clutch Switch via a session on his T4.


Once I knew it was the clutch switch I had only been able engage cruise by holding the clutch pedal up with my left foot.


I had tried to reseat the switch, which moved quite a long way (accompanied by a ratchet type sound), following this I have been able to engage cruise only by lifting the clutch pedal (which clicked when I did this), then remove my foot.
if I do not lift the pedal cruise would not engage.



So this morning I had another go at checking if the switch was seated properly, again the switch seemed to move quite along way and then stop, I then depressed the clutch (with my hand) which gives an audible click, then checked the switch position again.
Again the switch moved forward until it stopped, depressed the clutch with my hand again and yes, youve guessed it, the switch moved forward again.


I assume this means I need to replace the switch, but I'm struggling to reach far enough to pull it out?
I can reach far enough to push it in with my fingertip, but cannot reach to remove it.


Can anyone advise of there is an easier way to access this?


Also whilst I was struggling to push my hand further under the pedal to reach, I heard a crack and the item pictured below fell out.


Can anyone advise what it is and if it is important.

I’m afraid there isn’t an easy way to access the switch, it’s a proper fiddle!

Bear in mind you may have to swap the plastic bit the switch fits into as they changed the design of the switch and holder at some point.

Does the new plastic bit come with the switch when you buy one?
