Will a Saloon towbar fit a Tourer?

(asking on behalf of marke46320d)

He has a 2004 MG ZTT, and I have the towbar from a 2000 Rover 75 saloon.

Will it fit?

There is a caravan and towing section, I am sure you will find the info you require there as it has been asked many times. I know there are differences between the saloon and tourer towbars, I suspect this is due to the tourer tailgate encroaching into the bumper region and therefore the tow ball will either need to be lower or further out from the bumper to allow the tailgate to open.

I seem to recall that they are both different but not to sure

They are pretty much the same. The difference is the spacers that fit behind the centre bracket which goes behind the towing eye are different thickness, also the bolts are different lengths! That is the case on the brinks one anyway. I am just about to fit a brinks to a tourer so can check the spacer size if it would help.

The witter that was fitted to mine came with instructions for fitting to either.. The only difference was the tourer required (supplied) extra washer spacers somehere .

If it's just a matter if spacers that shouldn't be a problem aslong as it is fittable

Same answer from me - just bolts and spacers different, but the same bracket for both.

There's also an extra pair of bolts for the longitudinal angle brackets (at least on the Witter bar I've just fitted to mine) - but yes, they are pretty much the same, except the extra spacer and bar to accomodate the different position for the centre jacking point/ tow eye :)
