Two Post Lift Recommendtations
 

Hello all,

I'm looking at two post lifts and wondered if anyone had any insights or recommendations.

I'm looking at this one as although height isn't a problem, the narrower width is welcome:

Can anyone see a problem with that design?

Hi, when I was investigating the market about five years ago I must say I didn't think much of their customer service, it was basically a "couldn't care " attitude.

I eventually bought a Peak lift which I have been reasonably happy with. I had to put it outdoors because I didn't have the height but they sold me a locking box to put over the controls. The suppliers were Equipment4Garages who were ok.

The only negatives are that the arm locks have to be adjusted manually and the splines are not very close together so it can be difficult to line them up, but practice makes perfect. I did mention this to the suppliers and it may well be that the latest ones have better or automatic lock mechanisms . In addition the powder coating finish was not much good, I had the arms powder coated a few years ago and I painted the posts with Hamerite last year took quite a long time but was worth it.

I must say it was well worth buying. Good luck.

For a brief time I used to sell garage equipment and quality stuff such as Corghi was a hard sell. Everyone wanted all the cheap crud.

It may be that a cheapie is ok for low volume use, I don't know.

I’m sure I was told that 2 post lifts were not for major unit removal (engine /gearbox etc) but most of the motor trade has been doing it for ever. I would certainly never take such equipment for granted, I would inspect it regularly. However I am not an expert by any means.

I am looking at buying a 2 post lift from Twin Busch as they look really good for the price.

Not sure how tall you are but a 1500mm lift height is not very high!

Shape of CE mark on autotechservices site is not correct, C and E symbols too close. Must be ChinaExport mark.

I had a look at the HSE links and as a result decided that I'd look for a lift manufacturer who knew what they were doing!

Xavier's mention of Twin Busch was really helpful and I think I'm going to buy one of their 242A lifts that's been narrowed by about 500 mm (which can be done if you have them install it for you).

Phil - you're right, I hand't noticed the lifting height limit on the original link I sent! I hadn't appreciated that the arms would stop quite a long way short of the tops of the posts.

My garage is in the process of being built at the moment and the lift can't be installed until 28 days after the concrete has been poured so there'll be quite a wait until it's in and working.

Made in China or at least the factory staff are.

Watching this thread, Ill be in the market for a set when my new garage / workshop / mancave is completed. :D

I had it installed in October 2018, and as I have not been paid for it by the thief who had no intention of paying his bill, you can have it free of charge if you wish to remove it.
