Memory Fail
Ever noticed how when you are walking, the tempo of your feet inflicts on the brain similar beats which in turn unearth long forgotten tunes?
Today, on my 3 mile walk for a paper, a flash of a music hall ditty went through my head. Or at least half of a ditty. I wonder if anyone knows the rest, if only to stop its elbows continually nudging my skull: Don’t jump off the roof Dad, You’ll make a hole in the yard. Mother’s just planted petunias .................................................. . .................................................. .................................................. . So don’t jump off the roof Dad You’ll make a hole in the yard. It’s the dotted bits that are driving me mad. |

Tommy Cooper sang it but I thought he had revived it from the TV show The Good Old Days (chaired by Leonard Sachs using the most preposterous words). It will now be a struggle to walk to get my paper without getting arrested for breaching the peace by singing it. Unconsciously of course.
