UBP emptying prior to storage.

Just bought a good secondhand pierburg under-bonnet-pump which arrived yesterday to be put away in the spares bin.

I can hear diesel still sloshing around in it so what's the best way to empty it prior to putting it in storage ?

Thank you.

HI Robert
You could always put an hose on the top, put that into an empty bottle then remove the connector off the pump in the engine bat fit it to the pump and get some one to turn the ignition to II for about 10 seconds.

You could also try drawing it out with a suction pump.

Would it be best to cap the ends while diesel is inside to keep the internals lubricated? Old diesel could be emptied prior to fitting when needed.

yes that would be suitable also, then wrap it in some paper or an old rag & bag it up ;)
