190 - Front discs / pads?

Finally got me some 190 calipers (...again... :getmecoat:)

I want something that provides excellent performance from cold (not so worried about fade etc).

Don't mind spending £ for something quality (although £150+ on discs is pushing it!)

I've got Brembo discs / OE pads on the rear, but I can't seem to find much for the 190...

Oh and for some reason I have an irrational fear of Mintex etc budget brake brands. Not sure why...

I've had Mintex running on our old XJR and numerous cars - completely flawless. Had no end of issues with EBC though!

I've a complete of calipers to put on mine in the future and rekcon I'll be going for MTEC

EBC have a pretty poor reputation (for pads at least) with performance car owners (fade on track etc) - I was tempted to go for OE pads, but the discs I'm not so sure about...

It really depends, I got some non gen discs pads and warning sensors from e2z in wakefield - £99 posted and they were absolutely fine. The pads were Lucas TRW.

If anything the MGRover serviceline pads are dire (well were on the old ZT-T diesel)

Sadly you can't get them - but ATE do a powerdisc for the BMW's and they're phenomenal. I'm not sure what option they do for our cars though.

MTEK do seem to have a decent reputation.

Cheaper on eBay though.

The other small annoyance is that rear discs for my car were £38... (Brembo). I can understand that vented discs cost more, and maybe the larger discs cost a little more, but £115? Thats a BIG jump!

EDIT - Although I understand thats the price I may have to pay :(

If you want to take a punt, you can get no-name discs and pads for £84 on eBay, the brakes are overspecced on our cars anyway (unless you have a 190/260 and drive it at 10/10ths) :)

The whole reason I upgraded the brakes was for better performance, so no thanks!

Me neither ;) I was just posting that even no name cheapo parts are expensive for 325mm brakes :(

I've used EBC for years and currently have them fitted with the 190 upgrade, and have had no problems what so ever. Quiet (unlike Mintex), powerful and low brake dust. Personally I'd recommend them to anyone.
