Rover 75 Insurance - Classic Recognition
The other day I was doing the obligatory annual insurance quote phone around (personally I find the comparison sites best avoided for the 75) and it led me to Classicline, not a company I had previously heard of.
I had asked if they categorise the 75 as a classic yet, most of them last year didn't in my experience, well they came back and said that they had in the last 3 months appraised there classification as to what now constitutes a classic and the Rover 75 is now in that group. They quoted me £153 for a 3000 limited mileage policy with breakdown and legal expenses included, and with it being a classic policy no claims bonus is not required. I thought that was pretty competitive for a 28 year old. |
That's very interesting that the 75 now seems to have dropped into the classic category.
My 2001 Saab 93 has been insured on a limited mileage classic policy for 8 years so its does seem to vary a lot from model to model. |

i'll give them a call as I'm hunting insurance at the moment.
thanks macafee2 |
Just tried them and it seems as my car is a 2004 and thus under 15 years old, most of the schemes they use are still unavailable. Quote was well over £300:eek::eek:
This time next year it may be a different story. |

That's a shame mines is 2001, from what the chap said on the phone it was all 75's regardless if it was 1999 or 2005/6. Again from insurance companies you get five different answers to the same question. |
I have just called them and with 15 mods including a remap from 116 to 160
they have quoted £671 I'll not be going with them macafee2 |
That's even better than my new Pete Best quote of £167 - down from £220 or so last year. Underwritten by Hiscox....perhaps same for Classicline?
Remember that for these deals your 75/ZT needs to be a second car, not your only or primary car. Hence NCB isn't taken into account I think. macafee2 - Try Adrian Flux & Co. They've always been good with modified cars/older cars. |

why oh why did they not do this I the first place? 2 modifications from original quote, mileage down from 10,000 to 7,000 and change of job title... same job but this one fits, Stevedore. I had to Google it to see what is was. anyway at £300 that's up only £20, I'll accept that. just waiting for documentation to read it. All mods declared. 15 mods so the number of mods is an issue for some companies but the biggest issue is the 160 remap from 116 to 160, a CDTi going from 131 to 160, is not such a problem as the % increase is not to much A bog standard CDTi Tourer, about £150 fully comp as part of a multi car policy macafee2 |
