Wheels Refurbished
Today I collected my star spokes from CPC.
I have had them refurbished in gloss black sparkle. https://i.imgur.com/z0C6px1l.jpg1 https://i.imgur.com/Eod7RwDl.jpg2 https://i.imgur.com/CFcpXSol.jpg3 Depending on the light, you get to see the sparkle more at different angles. https://i.imgur.com/rmNasn0l.jpg4 https://i.imgur.com/2vyaNddl.jpg5 https://i.imgur.com/n9heSEml.jpg6 I have had black sparkle before on different wheel & they look really good on the car. https://i.imgur.com/s0oH3tll.jpg7 https://i.imgur.com/WgFRFXal.jpg8 https://i.imgur.com/iKY7iZWl.jpg9 But this is the first time in gloss black sparkle, I will be fitting them tomorrow after giving them the usual coat of polish, once fitted I will add photo with them on the car ;) |
Looks good arctic.
What colour car are they going onto? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Not a huge fan of black wheels personally Steve, but at least they would have broken the bank at CPC.

As always great value for the money £30 per wheel including removing the tyre and refitting with balancing ;) that's my monthly pocket money gone, I suppose I should have saved a quid for a packet of hob knobs taking a break after each wheel as been finished to eat them with a nice hot coffee :D |
Black Sparkle Wheels Fitted.
Ok so today my plan was to finish rubbing down the spare star spoke wheel i intend to use as my 5th wheel, & fit the newly refurbished Black sparkle wheels to the NUK.
https://i.imgur.com/njI7U0Dl.jpg1 I did originally take a spare with me to CPC but after dropping them off i got a phone call saying the spare wheel without a tyre was buckled  just my look i have four & i picked up one which was buckled. So upon that, i said to them to leave it and i would sort it out my self, which was started yesterday picking the best of the bunch, all need work so i washed it off rubbed the paint work down so the undercoat & gloss paint that was going to use would key nicely. I also did four MGZT centres. https://i.imgur.com/Xzuvbc2l.jpg2 Sprayed inside first. https://i.imgur.com/kZaFwkvl.jpg3 Then the face with undercoat. https://i.imgur.com/axuSNsql.jpg4 While that was drying in the baking sun, i waxed the inside of the black sparkle wheels. https://i.imgur.com/i020hqLl.jpg5 Then went back to sorting out the spare wheel my plane to get it as near to black sparkle as possible with the paints below, Gloss black, Rover tempest grey, and silver sparkle. https://i.imgur.com/JSuxJoRl.jpg6 I first used the tempest grey on top of the undercoat, let that dry for about 20 minutes, then a light coat of gloss black let that dry, another coat let it dry, the i stood back away from the wheel and sprayed the silver sparkle in the air above the wheel using the light wind to direct it across & over the wheel. https://i.imgur.com/7Y2ZRWil.jpg7 It looked ok but seemed to be missing what i thought i could see in the CPC wheels an hint of blue, so a light coat of sparkle blue i had in the shed was once again sprayed above & across over the wheel. https://i.imgur.com/bfUlANXl.jpg8 I left that to bake in the sun and started to fit the wheels to the NUK, removing the driver side wheel first. https://i.imgur.com/6gRWWJKl.jpg9 Five minutes later the first black sparkle wheel was on, minus the centre as i still had not decided to use silver Rover one or the black ones i had spayed. https://i.imgur.com/rFJASy4l.jpg10 Near side wheel was next. https://i.imgur.com/O0lESj3l.jpg11 https://i.imgur.com/twMA0YBl.jpg12 Second sparkle wheel fitted. https://i.imgur.com/0y6LA4ol.jpg13 Stopped to a quick coffee at the same time put a wheel centre in the remaining two sparkle wheels to see how they looked. Original Rover emblem silver centre https://i.imgur.com/3TlPv4rl.jpg14 Black blank centre. https://i.imgur.com/hNRKpBJl.jpg15 I was still undecided so tried them on the front wheels of the black sparkle fitted to the car. https://i.imgur.com/16D7XrZl.jpg16 https://i.imgur.com/xljs7INl.jpg17 Finished fitting the other two wheels. https://i.imgur.com/9hpYGIyl.jpg18 I ended up going with the original centres for now anyways, what do members think. https://i.imgur.com/fvKnezSl.jpg19 By this time the spare had baked off nicely in the sun. https://i.imgur.com/b4EumCwl.jpg20 I finally put it next to the gloss black sparkle fitted to the car, not to bad i think ready tomorrow to have a tyre fitted and go into the boot :} very pleased with my day. https://i.imgur.com/iqvpbOtl.jpg21 https://i.imgur.com/9Sbfpy7l.jpg22 what do you think of the wheels i like them, door handles next to go black i think cheers Arctic. |

Hi Steve Nice work sir! Reading your post I thought I'd say the black centres would be best, but the red on the Rover centre highlights well with the car colour in the fuller photos so I changed my mind! Now, what decision re black wheelbolts vs chrome ones or black caps vs chrome effect ones....?! Thanks again for the recent items Cheers John ( Silver Crowns, Rover centres and Black wheenut caps :D ) |
