The Pride Of Longbridge # 10
Saturday 18th April 2015
Cofton Park,
Low Hill lane
Longbridge
B31 2BQ

10am - 4pm

The 75 And ZT Owners Club will again attend the Pride Of Longbridge Rally opposite the MG Motors Factory in Birmingham this April, so why not come and join the fun? For those that don't know, the event is now in its 10th year and commemorates the closure of MG Rover Group at the Longbridge site.

Just as last year, we will have an area for parking set aside for members to use and we'll be there to spread the word on all things 75 & ZT. To get a flavour of the epic scale of this event, here is a short video taken at last years POL with thanks to J1MBO

Last year we had in excess of 100 club cars turning up and we represented the 75 & ZT models well. The event is free, so why not come along and pay tribute to 100 years of car production at the 'Austin' factory.

To get an idea of the numbers coming this year and so the size of our stand, please post a reply in this thread and we will update the list for the organisers to keep track of.

We now have a parking plan of the site. The Owners Club is in area A at the spot marked U in the picture.

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...ge.jpg1_14.jpg

The event officially opens at 10am and there will be marshals to guide you to the club stand, please remember to print off your windscreen flyer and display it in the window.

Make sure you drive slowly on site and keep any pets on a lead.

As we are not the organisers Pete, we have no say in the way it's run. But speaking from past experience, the first year we went as a club we were told we could not trade on site. The following year we were allowed to sell club only items but had to pay a fee to the organisers, then last year we were again told we could not sell anything.

There is a council by law I think over Cofton Park which restricts the trading of goods and services, best to check with the organisers for sure though by emailing [email protected]

My guess would be that they'll say no though.

Jakey010 19th January 2015 23:52

While it will kill two birds with one stone, I think our members deserve a more varied alternate attraction to visit on National day Phil, especially if it's cold and windy as has been the case in previous years. Don't get me wrong POL is a marvellous event with lots to see, but offering something other than standing looking at cars in a field all day has always been our aim with National meets :}

i have to concur with Paul on this one, I remember quite well freezing parts of my anatomy until around 2 pm when the sun decided to show its face!. I think a National should offer shelter interesting exhibits a good refreshment area and free parking !! Some like trains from bygone eras, me I,m into ships b oats and vintage cars personally, so perhaps something with a nautical theme mayhap ?

windrush 23rd January 2015 12:48

i have to point out that the past POL's have not been so cold as in2014 in fact we have had some lovely weather at Cofton park so keep your fingers crossed for a great and warm one for 2015

Bluejon 23rd January 2015 14:54

Jan & I are booked into P I South Rubery Fri 17th,Sat 18th,Sun 19th,although we may not be attending the POL,a great event & sad we may not be going,as my arthritis prevents me taking it all in,we will decide nearer the time.

We have booked for the weekend, anticipating the club may be holding something on the Sunday, however,we do not wish to preempt anything, but we did not wish to miss out on meeting old Friends,as the social side is always a part of these events, look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Best Regards.

I thought you were both booked into P I Longbridge which is just down the road from the Rubery one, looking forward to seeing you both again,in the meantime, please take care of yourselves.

All our love to you both.

Jan & John.

Nothing for the Sunday as yet John but the most successful Nation Meets that the club have had when its been a two day meet involving the POL RAF Cosford and Gaydon

Woof25 23rd January 2015 19:01

Nothing stopping anyone arranging to go to gaydon with a group of friends Derek if they wish wouldnt be a meet as such, just friends meeting at a place of interest,if its a nice day and you want to share the experience together.:D:D

You are right Mike.

We can still meet as a group. I have not been to RAF Cosford. How would we meet there, what with security blah blah? Does it offer catering or provide indoor cover in the event of bad weather? Perhaps Derek might know? :)

Hi Phil it is the RAF museum and you would not be able to see it al in a day there is so much there and it's free there is a cafe on site

Woof25 24th January 2015 08:20

Well Derek sounds like you have one taker for a trip to Cosford on the Sunday at least perhaps Julien will join you and other like minded people, I,m only there for one night so will have to be another year unless they chose Cosford for a National this year

Thanks Derek for explaining everything. It certainly makes for a fascinating and enjoyable visit. I wonder if anyone else is interested in visiting. Sadly I won't be able to make it the Haynes Museum, as I shall have to return to Africa. Not to worry, we will be visiting the North Yorkshire contingent at The Lion August / September :)

Freebyrd 24th January 2015 12:49

Will be there, Premier Inn booked for weekend.

Clickernick 24th January 2015 12:55

I will go this year as well. I will bring the Zed and also the 75 connie, just need to source another driver!! :drool4:

Please add me to the list in any case, thanks!

Rev Jules 24th January 2015 13:08

RAF Cosford

As Derek has explained, there is far to much to see in our time allowed at Cosford, not to be unsociable Dawn and myself are not prepared to travel 40 miles further North and then having to drive all the way home later on in the day.
As to the National in May I shall be going away on a weeks fishing jolly, so will be missing that one. We hope to meet some new faces and put names to them in April hopefully the weather will be kind to us.
As too our local group we will see you all at The Ely in February.

Julien

Maybe the gurus would consider a National Meet at the Royal Naval museum Pompey which to those not familair with naval terminology means Portsmouth, it has a wealth of artefacts from our glorious past as well of historic vessels and has 295 parking space and overflow parking nearby scoff/food is also available on site so a contender I think but up to other members of course :)

That doesn't matter ;) they're loved in all their glory, they're not brand new cars ;)

FrazzleTC 30th January 2015 08:34

I'd like to get down for this, but can make no promises, at this juncture, as to whether I can make it or not.

Ditto!
Please add my name to list of POL attendees. Could not make POL last year so looking forward to this years. Car is not yet quite up to the high standard of many club members but it is getting on a bit now.
Having not been before and not familiar with the area, is there any explanation of park entrances and best timing of arrival/exit?
Date dictates can’t do the National at Yeovil which is a shame as it would have been our first with a 75 but hopefully able to next year.

Is anything planned for the Sunday this year? Just wondering whether to book an extra nights stay.

Reebs 1st February 2015 09:58

We won't be doing anything formally as a club like a National of course, but it might be nice to take a drive somewhere and then have some food perhaps  I've got my hands full with the Haynes National and on the day POL stuff, so personally don't have the time to develop the idea further.

I am staying at Premier Inn, Bromsgrove Central over Friday and Saturday night. Visit to National Motorcycle Museum on Sunday then home. Don't think there's much on in the Birmingham area on Sunday 19th.

(The National Motorcycle Museum is located directly on the J6 island of the M42, directly opposite the NEC).
