Winter tyres on V8

Has anyone run sensible winter tyres on a V8? I.e. 195s or 16s or something less agressive than the 17s and 18s? I don't see much sense in running 215 or 225 winter tyres, as narrow would be the way to go on snow. Any opinions?

With standard brakes, the smallest you'll go is 17" - and even then, only a few 17"s will fit.

260s

Thanks guys, but for me there is very little to see on there. I have decided against registering with my shoe size and my mother's maiden name, and have to live with being shut out from most of the info there, I guess. Thanks anyway.

that seems a strnge reason not to register? Maybe register with a different username if it's such an issue??

You'll get lots of really good advice, answers to questions and help, as well as access to very scarce parts that get remanufractured.

I know Brian Luti at Dreadnought uses Toyos winter tyres to good effect in the winter!

Sounds like you made up your mind before you went over, there are a few 'wonts' out there, but when you register, and you dont need the items you mentioned above, you will get access to the full site,

Dont stay a wont! :)

If you choose not to join the two-sixties, that's up to you, but not sure what this issues are with the information required for registration.

Re the winter tyres I ran 225/45 Toyo winter tyres on mine last year on the standard 18 V8 rims

Never had an issue getting around, as long as one drove to the conditions

Thanks

Thanks, I have registered at the 260 by the looks of things, got a user name and searched for winter tyres on there but only found two posts. Thanks anyway.

I guess that you have yet to register as a V8 owner and therefore are only seeing a very limited part of the club. Persevere - it is worth it!
