Near Side Brake Lamp
Hello I had my brake warning light come on last night stating off side. I carry lamps so changed it with the help of a torch. After the lamp change still no joy. So thinking my one remaining spare brake lamp must have also been faulty I bought a two pack from Halfords and had another go, still faulty. My Haines book is 300 miles away so ? is there a fuse or is this a bad connection?

Check rear lights too as when a bulb fails, the brake light takes its place & vice versa:cool:
Also, make sure the connections are clean, might be an idea to rub them all down;) |
Thanks for the reply. All other lamps are functioning. The brake light fault came on after hitting a pot hole so my first thought was new lamp needed. My multi-meter is also with the Haines manual (300 miles away)
I will see if I can borrow one tomorrow and see where the volts have gone! |
use your bulb and some wire to test for voltage, if bulb lights you have voltage at the
tail light cluster. some tape to hold one wire to the side of the bulb will belp macafee2 |
Mine did that.--Turned out to be a slightly corroded pin in the light switch module connector plug.
WD 40.---Been OK for several years now. |
Also check the multiplug on the lamp holder itself, these are a known failure point if the boot has been leaking in my experience ;)
