Walnut Accessories - new colour pics/and order details

all orders to Simon at [email protected]

Please note that I have absolutely no business connection with Simon who is located in Bullgaria. I approached him initially to ask if he could make a close match to our Rover 75 walnut OEM trim which became very popular and since then have made myself available as a go between when members ask for new pieces to be made sending him measurements, templates, ideas for him to consider and actual OEM trim where necessary to help him match the colours.

Simon is very accomodating and has made a few bespoke items for members, he will supply single pieces from the main kit if you dont need all the items, please e mail him with your requirements and to get a price.

Complete kit £53 plus £10 delivery ( available in Walnut, Light Oak, Black Oak, Piano Black, Rhodium)

Schematic below last updated 13/09/2019

The schematic contains most but not all of what Simon produces and details of the additional items are below

Fitting Instructions for all items:

The temperature in your vehicle must be above 21C. Leave the panels in the vehicle to acclimatise.

Thoroughly clean the surface of the dashboard or parts onto which the styling panels are to be fitted. Use a grease remover like T-Cut. Do NOT use any solvents.

The preparation is very important . All silicone, wax or other polish previoulsy applied MUST be removed.

Carefully remove one of the panels from the backing sheet, without touching the adhesive, using a hair dryer warm the adhesive.

Gently position the panel into place. ( moistening the adhesive in one corner helps with positioning ) Press firmly onto the surface especially at the edges and corners.

Warm the panel with a hair dryer. DO NOT OVERHEAT and continue to apply pressure using a soft clean cloth.

Leave the panels for 24 hours. They can the be cleaned and polished using a proprietary wax furniture polish.

Door trims

Doortrims No 61 and 62 - these are placed on the velour part of the doorcard. The standard adhesive on the back of the trim is not good good enough to permanently adhere so they either have to be further adhesed using a contact adhesive and/or screwed to the doorcard. If you want to use screws let Simon know and he will add screwholes, supply the screws, and hole covers to hide the screws.

Light Oak

Please be aware that the light oak is not an exact match. The colour is very close, but the grain is not the same. The colour has been approved by club members

If you are not sure about the colour, please ask Simon for actual sample for you to approve prior to ordering. If you want a sample please let him have your full postal details.

Below are pictures of most of the items actually fitted to the car and for the most part will be the walnut finish. If you have other items and are willing to share your pictures please add them to the thread and I will udate the gallery as and when.

Door Cappings

If you do not want the holes, Simon will make them without for you if you ask him but you will then definitely need adhesive on the capping.

The first picture shows the capping placed right against the top of the door card which is where I think it looks at its best, however if you place it there note that there is a small recess where the top of the doorcard meets the “ velour “ and you may well have to put either adhesive or double sided tape into the recess to hold the top of the capping in place because when you stick down the bottom part of the capping it tends to pull the top out slightly due to the curve on the doorcard

In Walnut

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps4d975290.jpg

An option is to fit it just below the recess to avoid the above issue

And finally one with holes and cappings to hide the screws

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7e4b46eb.jpg

As with all Simons products the price is reflected by the amount of resin used and these are larger than average pieces and work out at approx £15 each, but he will sell the front and back as separate items should you want to buy the front only and maybe add the back at a later date

That looks great, Rob.

His stuff looks much better than that from the Walnut Dash Company - and he is very easy to deal with.

Kandyman 1st October 2009 18:33

What you doing to do when you get a power fold switch pack ;)

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...8/SDC15627.jpg

Kandyman 1st October 2009 18:34

I like the rear light surround.

CDTi 1st October 2009 18:48

I wonder if this guy could do a walnut trim to cover the centre cubby lid. There is a 3D element to the lid, though - probably very difficult or impossible to manufacture in some kind of a stick on trim.

pab 1st October 2009 19:09

the rear ashtray interests me

Cut a hole in the trim? :getmecoat:

ALPACA 1st October 2009 19:15

The rear ashtray looks really neat with the alternative cutout. What's the story behind it? Are they available to buy as a straight replacement?

Would like to see a picture of a Symphony head unit fitted with new colour.

the powerfold switch is one of the options and there is one on its way to me, all i need now is the switch !

He also sent me the rear ashtray cover in error and there is a storage cover on its way to me too. Mines a facleift and has always had the storage box rather than the ashtray, presumably its a straight swop for the ashtray

I enquired about the cubby lid having seen the one on bay but seller says it will not stick to the material it is made from

wuzerk 1st October 2009 22:16

Walnut

That Sat nav installation is rather classy i must say.

tony_fry 2nd October 2009 16:34

I had brought a set a few weeks ago, damm now I will need the E46 Radio one as I am changing my head unit:mad:

trebor 2nd October 2009 16:43

have you got the new colour Tony ? Seller will sell you an individual piece i would have thought

tony_fry 2nd October 2009 16:46

Rob I believe its the newer red'er colour, once I have the head unit sorted out, I will contact him.

stef_uk 2nd October 2009 19:51

Will he /does he do a surround for the front interior light aswell?...do like the rear one.
must say the horn surround just looks wrong and far to big for the buttons...needs to be chrome i think:shrug:

steve

pab 2nd October 2009 20:30

would the seller sell individual parts..the rear ash tray would be nice

trebor 2nd October 2009 21:02

theres no walnut for the front interior light, maybe because its more curved than the rear, contact seller and ask if you want individual pieces he is very amenable.

Not 100% sure of the horn surrounds myself yet, but can easily be removed if i want to

doublekite 2nd October 2009 21:27

I cannot see why the Symphony radio piece still does not go round the buttons. If a mirror switch on the drivers side is no problem with all those cuts, the radio should be no problem.

It would improve the look no end and reduce all the black round the buttons.

the seller told me that some of our members didn't like the cut outs in stereo No's 15 and 16 on the schematic above, so he has removed them, he may put them back if you ask him as he must have the template.

Teflon 3rd October 2009 11:12

That's excellent news. I asked the walnut Dash co a while ago about doing precisely that. They said it wasn't possible as it would require re-jigging; re-toolng etc etc.

I will certainly be placing an order for a few bits. Many thanks Trebor for sorting all the research on this.

They certainly made me drool Mike. VERY high up on my list now, especially if the supplier will modify the double DIN fitting to suit my fascia's dimensions.

I have asked him, the reply was:
Many thanks for your email. Option 15 is as per the schematic. The only way I can make it as you want is to redesign, in which case I would need the actual piece or a fairly accurate template. Has anyone in the club got an old one or the facia that they could send to me? or could you template. Does the facia remove from the buttons, if so you would have to cover it with masking tape and etch over it with the side of a pencil (as you did at school with coins).

I think I'll bite the bullet and go for it like it is. Are we guaranteed to get the new redder colour?

Is it possible to send him measurements, or even a tracing/rubbing so he can make up a sample and send to try out ?

Thanks Rob, will contact them with measurements etc on my return.

1 Attachment(s)
Dear All

Im sure the right panel option for my radio is no 15 -

Do you think I am correct

Thanks

matt

Teflon 5th October 2009 14:53

Yup - No 15 is the one you want. 16 is also for the Symphony, but has the cut out for the low line sat nav controls when installed.

Hope this helps,

Cliff

tony_fry 5th October 2009 15:01

If any one is ordering the complete kit, and needs a No 1 Radio until, please could you let me know, I brought the complete kit a few weeks ago, and now have decided to change my head unit, so I now need a number 18 2 din radio

It sounds like we are ordering a Chinese take away.

I could order it as a separate item, but it seems silly to throw away the No 1 mount.

You need to be careful when ordering the double din trims, Tony. There are at least 2 different sizes, differing by a few mm here and there. Obviously the small differences don't matter in the normal fitting but makes a big difference when you add a piece of sticky walnut :D.

Rob already has a trim but that doesn't fit mine. Simon (the manufacturer) has made up a piece for mine and its in the postal system.

I will report back here when it arrives and I have it fitted.

tony_fry 5th October 2009 15:34

Hello Eamonn,

Thanks for letting me know, about the different sizes, I don't yet have the head unit or the 2 din mounting, maybe I will have to wait to get the units and then possibly asking you what the sizes are on your cover when you get it.

Matt brighton 5th October 2009 16:04

What is the "sports" switch ?

Is it a walnut surround for the - E * S - settings selector for the automatic gearbox.

If our car interiors start to look any more like an edwardian gentlemans club - we will need a brass 'members only" sign on the doors...

Mine arrived today, packed nicely between two sheets of card.
I am generally very pleased but have a couple of issues which I hope the seller will sort for me.
The piece for my Symphony radio is not consistently glossy all over, and has some dull areas in the section where sat nav knobs would be on some models (ie the top right). I am wondering if these may disappear when the piece is polished but I dont think so.
Also the passenger window control piece has a line across it.
I will contact the seller and let you know how I get on.

In his instructions he says to clean the areas to be covered with a degreaser such as T Cut. Would white spirit do the same thing? Obviously all traces of silicone and polish must be removed for good adherance.

Any one got any more tips.....

EDIT: Now had a reply, he recommends furniture polish for bringing the finish up after fitting. Will do this and report back.

pab 15th October 2009 19:03

surgical spirit is recomended...de-grease the area and cleans

The piece for my Symphony radio is not consistently glossy all over, and has some dull areas in the section where sat nav knobs would be on some models (ie the top right). I am wondering if these may disappear when the piece is polished but I dont think so.
Also the passenger window control piece has a line across it.
I will contact the seller and let you know how I get on.

In his instructions he says to clean the areas to be covered with a degreaser such as T Cut. Would white spirit do the same thing? Obviously all traces of silicone and polish must be removed for good adherance.

Any one got any more tips.....

contact him with your problems he is a great bloke, heat the back of each piece with a hair dryer ( better if your neighbours dont see you taking the hair dryer into the car imo ) dont heat too much but it makes the piece a bit more pliable, once fitted a quick blast with the hair dryer over the top and press down with a clean cloth

Hi

You mention these are redder than the "Walnut Dash Co' ones. Does that mean you are lucky enough to have the real wood dash to start with?

I ask because my dash is the plastic version which looks slightly lighter than photos I've seen of the real wood version.

Are the dashes really that different or would these siut my plastic dash just as well?

If so I'll be emailing Simon asap!!

Cheers

In my opinion there are slight differences from car to car, a bit like buying wallpaper and ordering the same code maybe, but i replaced a plastic dash with real walnut and didnt notice much differenece to be honest.

Traditional walnut is darker but the oem Rover whether it be plastic or real wood is definitely "redder " in colour and the seller in Bulgaria has come the closest i have seen and i am pleased with mine.

I notice you are a new member so welcome to the club, pity you cant get to a meet to see some in the flesh as a number of members have bought or are buying the new kit i believe, if you put your location on yoiur profile may be members who live close to you.

I do have a few samples of the new product and could send you one free if you pm me your address but would ask that you join the club first at £3 its the best buy you will make

phenonix 15th October 2009 22:04

The seller does sound very accommodating, and responds to suggestions/improvements promptly, i will be buying a complete kit and seeing that he is willing to give the Symphony layout a try(with all buttons cut out)after receiving a template, i think i will hang on till he succeeds in doing this.
Going to contact him right now to see if a scanned picture sent by e-mail would suffice, unless anyone is intending of posting him a template?

What are those cut-outs for?

trebor 18th October 2009 19:16

i believe the cut outs were around the buttons, so when removed your just left with a walnut surround for your facia with the buttons left uncovered

Teflon 18th October 2009 19:25

The ones from the Walnut Dash Co have small cut outs to allow the labelling for the controls to show through - looks a bit silly to my mind.

:o It's been 10 days since my pieces were confirmed as in the post to me, and still they have not arrived. What with the lovely photographs of fellow members pieces that have arrived and been fitted, I'm starting to feel a little left out... :D

I've emailed the seller, who has been an excellent communicator so far, I just hope there's not a problem

trebor 19th October 2009 13:33

dont panic Mr Mannering, they will arrive, i have had several communications with Simon during all this research etc and all arrived quickly apart from one occasion.

Parker 19th October 2009 13:35

Mine came in 4 days, but I have Bulgarian relatives and often mail has taken up to weeks so should be with you very soon. The post office hold ups pre-strike are probably not helping either a letter from Cardiff to my home 30 miles took 6 days!

Whatever it's worth the wait. ;)

 Thanks Phil.

Yes, I'm just a little concerned as we get (and have just received) parcels from my family in Western Canada within 4 days of posting, yet the panels are still not here from Bulgaria after 10 days..... :o

EDIT: Just got a message from the seller and he confrms that 5 days is the norm for delivery, but post office there say up to 15 days.

Patience is a virtue as they say, I guess...... ha ha:D

trebor 19th October 2009 16:01

anyway they are worth waiting for imo, so while you are waiting do another mod, i have just done the ambient light mod, cheap, easy and worthwhile

Just fitted my first piece, the climate control facia, as it comes off easily. It took me 3 attempts to get it straight, and that was flat on the kitchen worktop. God knows how I am going to get the Symphony pice on straight!
Does the Symphony facia unscrew from the main housing to make it easier?

The Symphony facia does come quite easly, but when I applied my peice from the Walnut Dash Co, I did it with the Symphony in place. Just used a steady hand and some patience!

An additional point though - I've just got replacement parts from the chap in Bulgaria, and I've noticed that (on my set at least) the Symphony part does not have the cut outs at the bottom for the stereo removal tools to pass through. These will need to be added manually, otherwise you will not be able to remove the unit from the dash in future without first removing the walnut covering.

Cliff

Parker 22nd October 2009 09:31

I wonder if he has considered making walnut strips to run along the top of the door cards front & back. Have seen a pic on here where an overseas member has done that & it looks quite good. He fitted picnic tables in the back too but I can't find the pics.

Never noticed that! I think holes cut manually will look tacky, I may just wait to see if I ever need to remove the head unit. Apparently the bits peel quite esily if warmed first, so it may be possible to peel back to remove and then stick back down on refitting.

Unfortunatley for me, I've got a Grom iPod adapter fixed to the back of my Symphony, and every 3 or 4 months it seems to need a re-boot which entails pulling the Symphony out from the dash (I haven't yet got around to fitting a re-set switch).

I'd probably end up damaging the walnut if I peeled it back that regularly, so I made my own holes for the removal tools. Wasn't too difficult in the end: I removed the front panel from the Symphony, applied the walnut, then drilled through the walnut from the back using the holes in the fascia as a template with a no. 1 drill bit and then "routed" the slots with the drill bit. Cleaned it all up with a small nail file, and the end result looks quite tidy imho.

I am certainly pleased with the overall finish, as the colour is a much better match than the Walnut Dash ones, and the Symphony peice no longer has the annoying little cut outs for the switch labels.

:drool4: That really does look superb

doublekite 23rd October 2009 16:46

Just finished fitting the rest of mine. The hairdrier certainly helps a lot.
I found the door switches easy to do, even the drivers multi button switch was relatively easy.

I did have a problem with the Symphony as it seems the side dimensions are perhaps a mm or two too short, meaning the lower edge just catches the bottom row of buttons, making them stick in. If you fit it slightly lower to avoid this, the bottom of the display cut out is a bit too low and black shows. Could be just my piece but I am assuming they are all the same and cut by computer programme? I warmed mine to soften it more and managed to adjust it to fit with a very slight curve downward in the middle, but not enough for the untrained eye to notice.

The only other adjustment which could be made is to the head light switch piece. The small hole cut out for the headlight symbol, which is a fraction too high, so it is partly obscurred when all other symbols are visible.

But hey, I am just being fussy, and trying to perfect what is an excellent piece of kit. The colour match with the dash is excellent, but strangely the cup holders and ashtray sections are a bit different with less grain. As said above this may vary by car year. The match to the dash is the most important, and I am delighted.

Would I buy again? YES YES YES.

By the way, I have the sports switch piece surplus if anyone would like it free of charge. Just PM me with your details and I'll pop it in the post once the strike is over.

I must admit I'm undecided about the rear ashtray bit. I have fitted it to mine, and the walnut itself is lovely - I'm just not sure that it looks right against the grey vinyl. It would look better if the vinyl was black or dark grey imo.

 I have already done so. I sent two emails yesterday to Simon nd enquired on the chances of him tooling up door cappings as ether overlays on the top edges of the trim, or complete 'L' shaped pieces. As the trim is adhesive backed, it could in theory follow the natural curves of the panels.

I also asked about walnut pieces for the front interior light cluster, and the rear passenger armrest inner tray/lid. No response as yet, but I did suggest that there could be a lot of interest in the door cappings and that he could gauge interest by a post on the forum :D

Perhaps if a list is gathered of those who would be interested in door cappings (price dependent), we could let Simon know or ask Trebor to pass on the info. If so, put my name on the list please

tony_fry 28th October 2009 09:08

I think most people would like the door cappings, lets wait to see what answer you get back from Simon

Parker 28th October 2009 09:20

Door cappings would be a very good addition as I mentioned in post 76. I've already obtained real burr walnut trims from a range rover which I've used as posted in another thread, but although I like the look and had positive remarks from those who have seen the finish in the flesh so to speak, shaped to fit cappings would be the preferred option.

Simon is very accomodating, I have a DIN set up with Hans gauge that he will manufacture trim for once I send him a template.

trebor 30th October 2009 18:20

just been e mailing Simon and he says there is a problem with door cappings - the Sun ! In the summer with windows closed they get hot extremely hot and start to peel back.

He is working on walnut for the front ceiling light however, just needs some tweaking before it will be ready.

Graham1961 1st November 2009 19:13

Walnut pieces

Well if this comes off i would buy door cappings (defo) and maybe one for the interior light unit, and the rear armrest cubby storage area. It's a yes from me.

Simon has now completed design of the symphony with and without sat nav, a couple of these are on their way to members and available to all.

he has also designed some chrome window switch surrounds a sample of which are on their way to me and i will post more info when received.

Pictures of the symphony attached and looks great imo, please note that he has even left the blanks in for those that may not want the volume and bass/treble uncovered

Yes you will be able to, but maybe not in the 'normal' way.

There are slots in the bottom for a tool to release the clips. As you have surmised, these are covered up.

However, I never use these to remove a symphony, as I don't have them. I always remove the ATC unit (cover first the four screws) and put my finger up at each side to release the spring clips from below.

HTH

:drool4: So much nicer than the version I have on mine. He's done a great job there.

Teflon 7th November 2009 14:00

I wonder if he would do a version without the blanks for the volume, bass \ treble labelling cut out? (I'll have to e-mail and ask). Although he includes the "blanks" for re-fitting, this would spoil the overall finish imo.

With regard to he missing slots for the stereo removal tools - I put these in on my current walnut peice myself using a small drill bit. It would be better if he left slots for them however. Still, all in all, a very nice addition for the Symphony.

How easy do you find this? I have always pulled the Symphony out in order to remove the ATC unit cover - didn't realise it could be done with the stereo in place.

Cliff

phenonix 7th November 2009 20:48

i hope we are not driving him crazy with all these requests :)

i'm thinking of asking is it possible to fill in the cassette tape hole or not cut it out, never use it and makes the car look old.

trebor 8th November 2009 07:34

Simon has now designed the Symphony with Sat Nav (without the gloss resin on the surface). He has also added holes for the slots to remove the unit.(also on the Symphony without Sat Nav)

He will be supplying them both with blanks for the VOL and BASS cut outs.

If any of members want them without these cut outs (full cover of walnut) and they let him know when they order he can remove the holes. He already has one member that doesn't want the holes. He can also remove the holes for the slots if you don't want them.

I am sending him over a front light cover this week so watch this space for that design soon.

I hope he will do the same for me! After a long time waiting for the better colour, I went ahead and ordered the Symphony as soon as it became available, and within a couple of weeks the non cut out version became available.

Phoenix - The lack of cassette cut out is an excellent idea, my perfect Symphony would be - full style, no cassete cut out, but with removal slots.

I am not sure of the non resin finish, who would want that as it doesn't match the standard walnot trim then?

Not as good a colour match as other alternative :(

trebor 10th November 2009 18:05

just to pick up the last few questions:

the e bay price is not for our members, e mail Simon direct tell him you are a member of this club and a set is £50 plus £10 postage from Bulgaria

he will do individual pieces you need to e mail him for a price, again tell him you are a member here to get a better deal

the colour is a much much better match than the walnut dash, although its your money so you takes your choice, traditional walnut is browner in colour wheras the Rover walnut has a hint of red in it which is what Simon has been working on, i have been delighted with mine

the unit i have fitted in the car is an Xtrons face off with satnav, on e bay from seller Silvertech, i am about to get a freeview box for mine also from the same seller.

I have just sent over a front light unit for Simon to design a walnut cover for
and have received some samples of his chrome switch surrounds today, thay look really good, will get them fitted asap and take some pics when i will also confirm what they cost.

As i have said before i have nothing to do with Simons business in a commercial sense, but he has been a great find because he is semi retired and therefore by his own admission has the time to design new items, his service is excellent

:drool4::drool4: That's the baby I am waiting for. Wondered if Simon could make some walnut hoops to cover the two light switches on the rear interior light?

It would look so much nicer with the hoops walnut covered

IMO, the fit is a freshwater fish (Carp).

I have the Walnut dash one, and have ordered a new symphony plate from Simon. He has more than one 'no holes' version requested.

Someone asked about removing the symphony by removing the ATC first. I actually start by opening the cupholder or cigar lighter and remove the switch panel or blank. Then I can remove the ATC cover and then the ATC unit. Means I'm OK having no slots in the walnut, and I don't need to obtain the tools.

It was me that asked. I tried the approach described above, and the ATC cover seemed to need a scarily strong pull to release the bottom clips, so I chickened out for fear of breaking it. Probably just pulling in the wrong place I guess.

Simon has now aded the release holes, so it's no longer an issue for me - I made my own set of release tools from an old Barclaycard!

 I contacted Simon who is looking into making up walnut hoops for the rear interior light unit switches, which I think would finish the kit off nicely.

Can't wait for the front interior light pieces, should look ace

I've just received (and fitted) my new Symphony cover from Simon - very pleased with both the fit and finish (pics don't really do it justice):

That looks like a very colour match & a perfect fit

Parker 20th November 2009 11:29

Very good gear from Simon. Looking forward to the front light surrounds.

 Just Like Teflon, my new Symphony piece arrived this morning via recorded delivery. Here's a before and after shot as a comparison.....

I was never particularly happy with the mass of black plastic on show and the thin walnut borders on the original kit.....

The new piece from Simon looks so much better in my opinion, and I'm a happy bunny. The original piece took a lot of work to remove, so good was the glue, and the resin actually separated from the walnut, which was a shame as I hope to use it for other places

Update for all you walnut fans !

I have some chrome surrounds, will fit tomorroe and post up some pics

Simon now has the front light switch i sent over and is redesigning some walnut for it, i say redesign because he already had a first attempt done from pictures which he is not happy with - so watch this space

Rear light button surrounds - he will be onto those next.

For anyone that has a double din with BMW E46 facia, please note that myself Eamonn and Raistlin have the E46 and they are all slightly different in size, Simon has made one for me and Eamonn and is currently making one for Paul, so there will be 3 alternatives. I will be getting some templates which i can send members for a test fit but if you cannot wait that long make sure you send the exact measurements of your facia when ordering one of this type

The above pics of the new facias look great by the way

That's great news. I am after those walnut hoops for the rear intrior light unit, which will finish it off and make it look more complete, and deffo the front interior light pieces when they are done :drool4:

Simon sent me this pic as I enquired about the front light walnut surrounds. He gave me a price of £5.00 delivered so I have ordered a set. Decided to run with the chrome switch surrounds too.

The pic is a bit small sorry and the walnut used in the pic has not yet had the resin treatment but it gives an idea.

I wonder if he can do us chrome surrounds for the vents ?

EDIT: I just paid Simon and his invoice was £18 for the light as above and £3.00 for a set of chromes, yet his earlier correspondence was £5.00 for light and £21 for chromes. So guess I'm saying check with him before you buy to confirm costs.

Trebor, The surrond for the your double din, is it actually a facia or just a stick on.
The reason I ask is i've just bought the Xtrons unit and I don't want to fork out for a BMW facia.
cheers.

tony_fry 23rd November 2009 12:18

cusm

It is just for the stick on fascia you would have to buy a mounting frame, at around £60!!!!:o

Simon has done a very nice job on the front light surrounds

Update:

I too have the photo of the front panel as below, and a sample is on its way to me when i will fit and take some photos. It cannot be a complete cover in view of the curves in the cover so is subtle and i think it looks good. If you have a sunroof you will not be able to fit the large button surround but i dont think that detracts in any way, and shoudnt affect many people. I have a sunroof so you will see the pics before long

http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...LightPanel.jpg

The rear ceiling light buttons are exactly the same size as the front ones, and again i have a sample on its way which will be fitted and posted on here.

Re chrome surounds, fitted passenger side yesterday just before the nano meet in Wolverhampton, and tbh weather too cold so had to use hairdryer to help them stick, the trim only takes a very small amount of heat before it starts to go out of shape and i may have overdone it slightly. Pics below not the best but you get the idea, the outer surround fits perfectly over the edge of the switch and hides that black edge which is always remaining after fitting a walnut cover. There are inside chrome surrounds too but not sure if they look a bit ott, what does everyone else think ? Will fit the drivers side at the weekend and take some better pics

Very smart, not OTT in my view but I like ther chrome and walnut. No more fiddling trying to match up chrome trim and ensuring the join is spot on - very nice.

I've ordered chrome and the light today. Here soon I hope.

Just need the chrome for around the air vents now and we are done.

:drool4: They all look absolutely superb. I think the chrome trims look very much neater than the 3.5mm trim I have used. Looks like at some point I will have to get the new walnut trims AND chrome rings and re-do mine......

tony_fry 23rd November 2009 16:04

Looks very Nice Rob, now all you gotta do is get a price on the chrome for us!!!!
