Allotment

Well after a number of years being on various waiting lists, I've finally got an allotment :D Looks like a lot of work ahead but I think it'll be worth it.

Went down today to make a start and there wasn't a soul to be seen in the whole of the four acre, 81 plot site. Very peaceful and then the rain came. Oh why didn't I pick the plot with an existing shed

So if anyone in the Lancashire area has an old shed or greenhouse they want to get rid of, please let me know.

Put it this way , throwing stuff onto that plot wont be noticed...:D

Nothing a flamethrower, machete and couple of sticks of dynamite wouldn't put right!

It looks bad initially, but it's only been neglected for a year or two. One bloke had five plots together for nearly fifty years, but he's 86 now and just can't tend them, so he's handed them back. The committee gave him a chance as he'd been there that long and his wife was ill.

A few days hard graft should clear the debris and get it to a "blank canvas". I can then plan out what needs to go where, etc.

Looks like I've inherited some rhubarb though; shame I don't like it :duh:

I've met a few members of the committee, and they don't seem like loons. The AGM's coming up so we'll see who else there is.

All the best with it and yes a shed is a must pronto.:D

Cheers George, and I quite agree about the shed. I may throw some plastic or a tarpaulin over the "structure" made of scaffolding poles for now as a shelter for when the rain gets torrential.

Can't you get a mini-digger in there? They're only 3' wide.

Make sure you put your shed at the top of the slope Mark, otherwise it will soon get muddy round it... :o
