Does Anyone Know How Many Rover 75's And Mg's Are Still On The Road ?

Rover, built around 330000 models of the Rover 75's and MG'S etc, I wonder if anyone in the club can get the figures of how many are left on the roads in Britain?.

If we start now ,and have record on record per year, we can see how many are falling into washing machine land, and take appropriate action to slow it down.

If we cannot measure it , we cannot stop it kind of thing.

MG.

Also if we really got good at it we could do it by year to see which year is the weakest.

the 75 is becoming a bit thin on the ground.drove from glasgow to lancaster on my own and counted one 75 and about a dozen x-types.

pab,

I have noticed that, I drive on the M1 everyday approx 100 miles to work and back in my Tourer. I don't often see rover 75's now except late registered ones EG 55/06 platers.

The other stuff say 04/53 plates back drying up...Its not just the Rover 75 but the 25's & 45's also.

I really think there are dropping very quickly.....thats why we should spend a bit of time and money to check this serious issue out before its too late.

The one day i saw only one other 75 and one 45 on the 100 miles of road. bad mate.

There is no way to tell as Cars are not listed by type make etc when scrapped removed from road, SORN etc.
DVLA have no figures of this ilk at all. (have asked before)
Plenty used in crash tests to.
So as said a no goer really.

I think a lot of the drop in numbers may be due to the fact that there are now no longer any 75 or MG ZT company cars charging up and down the roads of Britain. The answer to the drop in numbers can be seen very clearly with a visit to ebay. Take a look a the early 75's for sale (say 99-01) there are now so many for sale as spares or repairs its frightening.

take an early ford focus as an example, ford sold millions of these .....on ebay the same again spares or repair and early ones in auto trader cheap as chips

John,dot,com

MY Dad is in the Morris Ital club , They get figures of how many are left by taxation. Most figures won't be far off that figure , yes you will always get some on gardens etc, but most of them won't return to the road anyway. I reckon the way forward to use the Morris Ital club way and measure with taxted and on the road, this way we have some sort of measuring tool.

I think we should do this, via taxation, some info better than none.

I think a lot less than 330,000 were build. The figures I have seen are MG ZT - 27,149 and Rover 75 - 211,175. Total production MG ZT/Rover 75 1999 - 2005 was 238,324. I would think at least 150,000 were still being used!

Hi Nick 999

Ruddy hell thats worse than i thought, i take it the tourers are in that figure mate. The Rover 75 range has lost 90,000 cars approx in 9 years?. That means another 100000 cars will within the next 8-9 years or even speed up as the bodys of these cars become tired or value-less.

Its bad mate....i wonder what the tourer breakdown would be? have any ideas.

Nick999 21st July 2009 13:23

Figures do include the tourer's.. An over all average for petrol and diesel models show about 25% of production was tourers.
