Which one to keep

Following on from my bangernomics thread, I'm now left with a decision to make about which car to insure as my daily and which to sell. Mx-5 sold, TT is on a limited mileage policy and I need to put either the ZT or BMW on the road to use through the winter.
Both are 2.0 diesels, ZT-T is an auto, 320 is a 6 SPD manual with a lovely light clutch. Both full leather, though ZT has cruise. My ZT is on 180k miles, the 320 is on 94k, both are very reliable and passed last Mots with ease. I'd say the 320 is in better condition though the arches are all starting to scab, common on these but nothing structural like a jacking point. ZT is more comfortable but the 320 a better drive, feels smaller and lighter(don't know if it is) with better brakes. I guess they are both worth between 500 and a grand so nothing to choose there. Although I don't use it a lot the estate space is useful, the BMW's seats don't even fold .

I expect you'll all say keep the ZT, being on this forum but I appreciate any comments you have. Thanks

consider practibility of each and which you enjoy most to drive. Enjoyment could be your over riding decision

for me, space and cruise give the Tourer the edge. The rest we probably all experience

lots of other things, cost to run, to tax and insure.

Bearing in mind that you have the TT as a 'boy's toy', I'd be inclined to keep the ZTT. I am biased, though, as I find that my tourer is a jack of all trades and takes up to four dogs comfortably. I use my Hyundai coupe at weekends.
Cheers

As a winter car, personally, I'd go for the ZT. Most BMW drivers round here seem to get neurotic once the roads get slippery. On the other hand the beemer looks good :}

Swaying towards the beemer, it's been in our family since new and obviously has half the miles... first my dad, then the last year my son .
ZT definitely more practical though in my 2 years of ownership I can count the times I've needed the space on one hand and three if those was transporting car parts lol! Both cars currently have boots full of speakers anyway !
19/20 times I'm in it on my own with an empty boot. I use the TT once a week to keep everything charged and moving. Could easily use the quattro whenever there's bad weather !!

I've never owned a beemer, but clocked up some business miles in them. I enjoy driving them - they definitely have character, and to use a cliche are 'a drivers car'. This is in contrast to various other marques that I'm lucky to remember what I had a week later. Are you selling the rejected car, or just parking it up? Both look nice, difficult choice.

I need to use the ZT-T for the trip to Holland with the club in 5 weeks. If I choose to keep the beemer I'll be selling or breaking the ZT-T after that. If the beemer is to be sold hopefully an interested party from my sons work will buy it next week.......

I'll probably renew insurance with Tesco as they don't charge admin to swap cars online, just the difference in premium and include 90 days euro cover.
