New Navall 3 - Fresh install but no DABy goodness

Hi guys,

At the request of Jeff (coolcat), I'm starting a thread to outline my issues with the DAB on my Navall 3.

To set the scene, here are the facts:

1. This is a brandspanking new unit
2. I installed this today (14/02/16)
3. Up to this point, I have not had any DAB playback
4. Standard FM radio playback is absolutely fine - that's using the normal aerial (onboard tuner), not the FM optionality within the DAB app.
5. When I try to get an FM station via the DAB app, I can only get Radio One. That is it. Nothing else.
6. I jumped in my girlfriends MG3 which has DAB and she can get hundreds of DAB radio stations with perfect clarity. My issue does not appear to be a poor signal area problem.

So far, the remedial actions taken have involved re-downloading the DAB app several times as well as clearing the database via the DAB app and retuning on multiple occasions.

It's worth mentioning, when I set the app to scan, the app counts right through to 70 and then nothing happens afterwards. No stations found.

It appears to me that it could be a fault with the aerial. What does everyone think?

Cheers

James

Hi James,

Cheers first of all:}

Have you tried tuning the FM on the dab app as suggested ?

This will let us know whether the unit is receiving a signal at all from the aerial :}

Edit......missed the bit where you said you've only got radio 1 :duh:

Deffo sounds like a lack of aerial signal you have then if the FM won't pick up anything else.
Which aerial did you order with the unit?

I think I've got the basic aerial with mine. Its the one that comes with the DAB unit as standard.
It sticks on the windscreen at the front and is around 12" in diameter.

The element is very delicate in them and can break which I reckon is likely the case.
I'll check with Sean and we will send another one out for you.
I suggest that you give it a check first before mounting it in place ;)

Agreed. Lets post out a replacement .If things are okay after that then good
If not I agree that 99% of issues are aerial related. You would be best to upgrae the aerial.

It mounts on the outside of the glass a bit like the cell phone aerials and gives much improved reception :}
