OBDII - Nice Little Android Phone App
Just thought it may be worth sharing a recent purchase that's both reasonably priced and does exactly what it says on the tin.......
Bought an app for my android phone called "Torque BHP" more on it at: http://torque-bhp.com/ To go with this I bought the following bluetooth adapter from the Bay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2308005717...84.m1497.l2648 After pairing the adapter to my phone, I fired up the App and hey presto! Loads of data from my ECU about temperatures, MAF performance, boost pressures, fuel mixtures, the list just goes on and on and on. Its fully configurable and even reads fault codes. You can also clear them and I am still finding out what it can do. All I know is that its shown me that I have had a few issues but after a bit of tinker under the bonnet and resetting the fault codes, the errors have not come back, so fingers crossed its looking good. There is probably a whole heap of stuff I have not even found out or touched on. There is a free app available so you check out the look an feel and get an idea of the features. I have also had a go with it on the other half's Pug 207, which sends data much quicker due to it being a much newer standard, so it works on pretty much any car with an OBD socket. Dave :D:D:D:D |
I have this, great piece of kit!

To think, I nearly bought a crappy generic code reader for about £25. This thing would be great if you mounted a screen on the dash. You can have multiple screens of real time data, plus performance from gps and on-board accelerometers on the phone, which give performance and calculated bhp.
Is it just me, or has this one slipped under the radar? |
Thanks Dave
I've just ordered one. Currently we have a Skoda Fabia Mk1 and a Citroen Xsara Picasso. Pretty sue it will work with the Fabia. Hopefully it will with the Xsara too - I'm having some issues with the temperature sensor and this will help diagnose the prob. Al |
I've been using it over a year now, my favourite feature is the plug-in which allows you to stick your phone on the dash and video record your trip.
When you play it back it has dials overlayed showing speed, boost etc in real time, it also has your position on google maps cleverly overlayed on the video. Clever stuff, especially for track days. |
Just wish I had discovered this when I had my Alfa. Would have saved me hours and loads of cash LOL. :getmecoat:
|
Also good if you have an android head unit installed so you have it on the main display.:} I've seen guys with a 7" tablet installed on the dash with it running.
|
Now that does look interesting. do you know is there an option where you could set an alarm if the coolant reaches a set temperature etc?
|
I think you can set a max line for the reading Simon, but you'll know if its too high by looking at it :} Are you going to Gretna?I'll bring mine for you to look at
|
I'm not sure about Gretna, we are going away the following day so I will need to apply for shore leave!!
I may give it a go anyhow:D |
