Blown Bulbs Anyone....

Going to work at 06:00 and ping the the fault light appears telling me there's a bulb out. I let out a massive groan and the odd swear word because I knew it was going to be a headlamp bulb.

It's never going to be one of the bulbs that is easy to replace, never had an issue with any other light on the car.

This is the sixth headlight bulb to be replaced in the last 5 years. Is this normal?Anyone else encountered this problem?

these cars seem to go through headlight bulbs regularly,it has to be some sort of power surge..what make of bulbs have you been using?

Get yourself good quality bulbs or your always going to have this problem

The bulbs I have used are Lucas H7 12V 55W. Always thought Lucas were good quality?

I pass many rovers on my trips to and from work, some are the same each day and about 75% have a bulb out. Even when I see the regulars that have replaced the dud bulbs, within a week they have another blown. But hey they are rovers lol what do you expect? Perfection lol

In two years and 40k of owning my 75, four headlight bulbs went... took me nearly an hour to do the drivers side on the first attempt, in the dark...! Two years and 40k in my Mondeo that came before, and no headlight bulbs had to be replaced (just as well as that car required headlamp unit removal to change).

I have only changed three bulbs in 5 years of ownership, I always leave just the sidelights on for a few seconds before switching the headlights on, The bulbs I use are good quality makes but nothing light osram nightbreakers etc

If you're going through this number of bulbs, I'd whip the bumper off, check the lights are securely mounted, checked the wiring across the bumper seem, and check the earths....

Indeed, last year on a weekend away, on the Sunday afternoon, I lost both headlights within an hour of each other. I normally carry spare bulps, but ususally not two of each.
As far as I remember it was the high beam.
Thankful for the fog lights, driving 500 km home in the dark.,
Morale of the story, I now carry two of each bulp.
