Rover 75 2.0 V6 - Rear Brake Pads/Discs

Hi all, sorry for not been on for ages......
I renewed all discs and pads on the car about a week ago, and has done approx. 240miles since, was washing the car yesterday and noticed that the rear discs looked rusty!, on further inspection the disc is part rusty and part shiney, stripped down the caliper and couldnt see anything abnormal about the pads etc, any ideas

Kev, I've resized the pics as they were way to big and quite large file sizes. Let us know if you can't resize yourself as we can always help- Mike ;)

Is this a case of bad machining ? If you run your fingernail across the disc , can you feel a step ?

I'm with you Chris - naff discs is a good bet. Are they OEM or aftermarket?

Must be the discs or surely the pads would be "cleaning" that?

Let's assume everything is OK in terms of dimensions. I suggest the caliper piston may be sticking or maybe the slide pins need a re-grease. Is it the same both sides ? Where the pads replaced with the discs as recommended.

Yeah same both sides, and pads discs replaced in pairs.

The pads didnt have the metal shims as per the old ones that came off the car, could this be the problem as these are an anti-squeal feature and also to take up any 'tolerance' space

Still reckon it's best to stick with Rover, Mintex or EBC pads and discs to be on the safe side. First time I have heard of anyone fitting QH pads (or discs) to an MG/Rover 75 though I know the name.
Rover O/E tend to be a bit more expensive but there are some good Mintex deals on ebay (matched sets are now available)
