Tyre Pressure

Hello Guys

I do not have a manual so am just querying.

I have a set of new 16 inch Semperits about just over a month old. Already the outer top edge of tyre is showing wear. I have done nearly 2k since they were put on.

Fronts = 34
Rear = 32

Is this correct?

The pressures lose about one pound all round per week.

I have noticed that the car drives lovely up to 70. Over 70, it feels slightly wobbly in the steering. Maybe I need to have the balance checked?

Thanks

GK

I assume you mean Semperit as in the tyre manufaturer

Acccording to the hand book

1.8 manual ..............Front 30 psi
..............................Rear 28 psi

Normal driving

Above 100mph increase by 2 lbs
Hope this helps:}

Also I would suggest a 4 wheel track and a rebalance of the wheels

Hello No. 6 :}

Thanks for the info and for confirming what I now suspect and that is that the pressures at 34 results with the fronts being over inflated.

Mmmm I will most definitely have the wheels tracked and balancing re-checked.

The 17" Semperits came with the car which I picked up in July. I have never heard of them, where as I have heard that Serpents have a good all round reputation here.

Much obliged No. 6

Semperit is a make of tyre and Serpent is a style of alloy. Hope that helps.

See here, page 97 onwards for the correct pressure in Semperit tyres on a Rover http://www.semperit.com/generator/ww...e-table-en.pdf

Thanks Steve. I have just looked at the table of tyre pressures in the link and have noted it all down. I did not know Serpents were alloys. Now I do

Thanks again

Phil
