Engine oil (UNopened) - shelf life?
I just discovered 5L of Shell Helix HX7 10W-40 with a date stamp of June 2015. :tumbleweed:
It is unopened though - in fact it's in a sealed plastic transit bag and unopened. :cheering: To use it, or not to use it, that is the question. :D |
I would

I did read somewhere that you should use engine oil up within two years? Well sorry, but I usually buy a quantity of oil and it may be four/five years old by the time I use it. Just ordered some Magnatec 10/40 A3/B3-4 That wil be kept in the shed for around 3/4 years before use. Fill your bags at Carparts4 you, 4 litres @ £19.25. Free delivery.

You may see shelf life quoted on materials safety data sheets.

You may see shelf life quoted on materials safety data sheets on the manufacturers website, although I would just use it.

It would be far too easy to put the TDS on the product web page (https://www.shell.co.uk/motorist/oil...x7-10w-40.html) so Shell decided to hide it somewhere completely different instead. Brilliant!
It's in here https://www.epc.shell.com/ Naughty word it, I'll use it. :D |
