Winter Check List

This is a list of things that I would recommend checking out before the inevitable ice sets in in the coming months, or weeks!

Check when your antifreeze was last changed and get the strength checked.

Check your plenum drains are clear and the pollen filter is in good condition.

Check the heaters work and the a/c functions correctly. A/C doesn't just cool air for summer, it helps to demist too.

Check your tyre pressures are set correctly and you have a good tread on the tyres including the spare. Make sure you have sufficient tools in the car to change the tyre if required. Jack, wheel brace and locking wheel nut key.

Make sure all your lights work and consider carrying some spare bulbs.

It may be a good idea to consider getting the battery condition checked as they are put under more load in the winter months

It would also be a good idea to remove your wheels to make sure they aren't seized onto the hubs. It wouldn't be very pleasant to be on the side of the road in the freezing cold only to remove your wheel nuts and find the wheel stuck to the hub!

Carry a good torch.

Ensure all locks are lubricated and rubber seals are lubricated to try and stop them from freezing up.

Make sure you carry plenty of drinking water as if you become stranded, you could dehydrate! It would also be a good idea to carry some food to keep you going.

It would also be a good idea to carry a blanket and thick coats.

Keep all glass clean, inside and out.

Check your wiper blades for splits and condition.

Check your screen-wash is mixed to the correct strength.
